Chapter 17

How does the rest of the morning go?
Unexciting, until they meet up with Tiffany
The two identical black cars looked really weird next to each other in the school parking lot, but Ernest guessed he would just have to deal with that, especially given how awesome it was to have one of those cars be his. He walked into the school building next to Jessica, and had she looked at him, she would have noticed a grin on his face that was slightly too large for a person who was going to be handing over the ultimate power over reality to someone else. She didn't look however, and so she didn't notice it.
Tiffany Handford's morning could at best be described as sub-optimal. She had a splitting headache after partying the night away and crashing at Jess's place with her cheerleader friends, and somehow still getting up for school in the morning because her dad had made her promise she wouldn't skip classes, threatening to take away her car privileges if she did. She was grumbling to herself on the way to her first class of the day when she received a tap on the shoulder.
She turned around and saw Jess, who looked like she wanted something from her, "Hey Tiff, can we talk to you for a second?" She had that Ernest guy standing beside her, looking entirely too happy. The last thing Tiffany needed right now was someone to remind her exactly how good their morning was in comparison to hers.
"Sure, but I'm not really in the mood for too many words right now after the party last night. Can you make it quick?"
Ernest looked at his phone and mumbled something. Suddenly Jess gasped, Ernest grinned and said, "I just wanted to ask you if you've seen this ring before. I found it at the party last night." He held a beautiful golden ring in his hand, with a large emerald set into it.
Suddenly, Tiffany's headache flared up as knowledge rushed into her head.
- Jessica was a genie.
- The Ring granted power over her.
- Ernest had made some wishes with the Ring, Jess wasn't happy with it and wanted to give it to her.
- They had wished that she would stay in good health, and that she would never make any negative wishes about other people.
- Tiffany would now put the ring on her finger. She couldn't avoid it, since it had been wished that she would.
Tiffany felt like an outside observer, watching her right hand close on the ring and put it onto her left ring finger.
All that power, and Tiffany still had a headache. If only that headache could go away.
What did Ernest do while looking at his phone anyway?
