Chapter 94 by Daylan Daylan

So What's Your Familiar?

A Dragon Fairy

Standing before you is a humanoid, very obviously female figure with black, leathery wings coming out of her back. She has long purple hair that goes down to the small of her back and at first you think she is wearing a very small black bikini that just barely obscures her womanhood and her breasts, which you estimate to be in the high C-cup range for her frame. Upon closer inspection however, you noticed that the "bikini" is instead scaley skin that is part of her body and that she also has a black scaled, lizard-like tail that swishes back and forth slowly behind her as she looks back at you with pupil-less, solid purple eyes.

She is equal parts alluring and monstrous... or at least she would be if she was more than four inches tall at most.

"Oh," Professor Hobbins exclaims as he looks up from where he struggles to hold down a butterfly net he has uses to capture a gremlin another student has summoned, "A Dragon Fairy. How rare."

"I thought that thing was an imp?" A student holding a fishbowl that has an alarming amount of tentacles reaching out from it asks.

"No," Hobbins explains, "An imp would have wings like that certainly but also horns and a goat-like lower body much like a succubus when its disguise slips."

"And I thought Dragon Fairies were just a really small breed of dragons," another student, who is petting what looks like a three-headed beagle, remarks.

"Nonono," Professor Hobbins says as he moves on to help another student restrain the baby cyclops that is swinging its small but muscular looking arms around in a temper tantrum, "What you are describing is a Fairy DRAGON. This is a Dragon FAIRY. The word order may seem pointless but it is very important as it leads to summoning very different creatures, as you can see."

You look back down at the Dragon Fairy, who is giving you a very appraising look. Strangely, something about her gaze briefly reminds you of the Final Wyvern you summoned in your duel with Harmony. Unsure of what else to do, you hold out your hand with your palm up, offering her a ride if she wants it. After a few more seconds the Dragon Fairy gives you a sly-looking grin with her sharp-looking teeth and flies up past your hand to sit down on your shoulder.

"Congratulations," Parisia says, cradling what looks to be a cream-furred baby fox with eight tails that is currently asleep, "I couldn't decide between a Rose Fairy or a Pegasus in the end so I just went with the first spell my finger landed on and I got this guy."

"Oh cool," you say, "A Kitsune. He's adorable!"

"I know," Parisia purrs happily and her pleased expression makes you decide not to mention that Kitsune are known for being tricksters and may end up being a handful down the line, "I think I'm going to name him Miles."

You are fairly certain that is a reference to something but at the moment you cannot think of exactly what. Instead of dwelling on it, you look over at the Dragon Fairy on your shoulder and ask, "Say, do you have a name?"

The Dragon Fairy shakes her head silently and you remember having read that fairies communicated through empathic means instead of words, so it was quite possible that she had not needed a name to identify herself or be identified by others in the realm she originally came from.

After a moment of thought, you ask, "Would you like one? I don't really know how to communicate your way yet and it seems rude to just call you 'Fairy' or 'You', y'know?"

The Dragon Fairy taps her chin with a forefinger (which you notice has a sharp claw at the tip) in over dramatic thought before giving you a "go ahead" gesture. A smile comes to your lips as your early childhood fascination with dragons (which you KNEW could totally beat up dinosaurs) will now prove useful as you say, "How about... Tarasque? Which we can shorten to Tara, if you prefer."

The Fairy's face lights up and she seems happy as she nods exuberantly. Your smile grows as well. Tara the Dragon Fairy it is then.

"Say..." Parisia suddenly says, causing both you and Tara to look in her direction, "My roommate actually has a fairy familiar too. It's a different kind but a lot of the care products you'll need should be the same. You could probably borrow some of her extra supplies until you get a chance to pick up your own."

She licks her lips and gives you a shy smile as she asks, "Would you... want to go with me to see if we could get them?"

Go With Parisia?
