Search and Return
"Nice drones." You said looking down at her. She stared angrily up at you but said nothing. Alpha 2 was coming down the hill with her teammate slung over her shoulders. You waved for her to set the unconscious heavy down. "Mia, I want you two to go in there and check for anything important. I'm going to have a little chat with our friend here."
Mia's visor went clear and she gave you a suggestive look.
"Not that kind of chat." You said, letting your own visor go clear so she could see you rolling your eyes.
"Whatever you say LT." Mia said giving you a big wink before she went into the building to go through everything, followed closely by Alpha 2.
After they were inside you knelt down next to the prisoner. She averted her gaze quickly, obviously pissed off that her robots had betrayed her to the enemy.
"You know, you don't really look Cuban. Was your mother from the Caliphate? Sire maybe?" You asked. She still refused to answer. You let that line of questioning drop. "Those bots didn't seem to like what you did to them. Didn't anyone warn you it was sacrilegious to change one of the people's designs without permission?"
"Those fuckers told me that software package would suppress that!" She spat.
"Good now we're talking. What's your name and rank?" You asked, knowing those were two things she had to answer.
"Farah. Farah Amari. Technical specialist attached to the Cuban Conglomerate. Or at least I was until those machines gave me to the fucking ESF!" She was obviously taking the machines betrayal personally. You had to admit you would too if you'd just been handed over to a life of slavery.
"Well. You got at least one part of that right." You said. She obviously didn't appreciate the joke.
"Not much here LT. Just a bunch of scrap. All the complex pieces must be back at base. The stuff here is just for repairs. Other than her suit." Mia informed you, stepping out of the building and indicating the prisoner. Your other member of the fire team going to pick her companion back up for the return to base.
"Got it. We'd best get moving then. It'll be dark before too much longer and I don't want to be caught out here in it. Grab her suit, I'll carry her." You said leaning down to pick up the engineer. She tried to wiggle away but a quick slap to her rear put an end to that.
"Aww, don't want to share LT?"
You rolled your eyes and turned back in the direction of the woods where your platoon was camped. Mia laughing behind you as she went to go and grab the engineer's armor in the shed.
You had to admit. This day hadn't gone as you'd planned. But now you had something to show for it.
You made it back to camp without further incident.
