Meanwhile Bruce copes with the pack.
It had been five days, five days since the last full moon in Gotham. During that time, Batman continued to watch his city and the media being broadcasted from it. Vicky Vale had continued to make plays to have Batman demonized by the public and police, with patrols increasing to hunt him down. Even though the city was essentially cut off by a ring of fire separating Gotham from the rest of the world. Military forces had attempted to enter to no success, leaving everyone inside trapped and at the mercy of a vampire and his cohorts. The werewolf attacks were at a minimum if at all, but Bruce knew he didn’t get them all. With their nightly attacks and the almost unquenchable thirst of the vampires, his city was dwindling and there was little he could do to stop it.
“Now I know how the city of Kandor feels like; a civilization trapped in a jar.”
Feeling a shadow loom over him from his chair, Batman didn’t react when he spotted a blonde furred arm rest over the computer consul and a pair of masses press over the top of his chair. “I used to live in Kandor, before Brainiac took it, at least you’re still six feet tall and not 2 millimeters tall.”
Looking up at the blonde Kryptonian werewolf, it was still a surprise to see just how larger she was from everyone in the mansion, whether they were werewolves or not. When day broke after the full moon, Power Girl never turned back, much to her horror and everyone else’s surprise. Because of her size it was difficult to hide her in the mansion, instead she was forced to live in the Batcave during the day and went out to stretch her many limbs at night.
Everyone was confused why Karen couldn’t revert to human form, but Bruce had a theory. Kryptonians could absorb solar energy whether the sun was up or not, though direct exposure did help. As a werewolf, the same analogy would also be true. For Karen’s case, she was always absorbing lunar light even if the sun was up in broad daylight. After all, the moon was up SOMEWHERE on Earth. “By the way, any chance I can finally go back to normal soon?” she asked while her second set of arms wrapped around Bruce gently from behind and her last free hand combed her claws through his hair.
“I plan on checking in on Doctor Langstrum by the end of the week, by then he should have something promising about changing us all back.”
“Good!” Growled Karen, the spines on her back rattling. “Because I am NOT getting used to this! Hell, last night I ate another deer!... AGAIN!” Getting up from his seat, Bruce was still struck by her size, she even dwarfed the Batmobile. Lounging where she was after he left his chair, her saurian tail wrapped around herself like a cat’s and she idly picked at her horns. I’m going to check on the others, try… Try not to damage anything before I come back.”
“I can do you one better, how about you tell Poison Ivy or ‘Aloe Vera’ to put some damn clothes on! Even without X-ray vision I know she’s sauntering around the hallways with nothing on…”
Making a face that almost looked like agreement, Bruce nodded and climbed the steps up to the mansion. She wasn’t wrong, After the last full moon, Pamela had not bothered with cloths at all save for the plant life she let naturally grow from her hair and back to entwine down her arms and legs. Turning to leave, he found that Karen made a strange face, peering out the exit of the batcave, as if something had her attention yet it was nothing he could see. Making his way up to the main floor, he found the others casually sitting at the couch watching television, until they spotted him. “MISTAH B!” Jumping off the couch and cartwheeling her way towards him, Harley instantly pinned the man against the wall and kissed him with over-exaggeration before jumping back a foot to wring her hands under her chin with a smile. “Harley, why…?” At first, he didn’t know why she backed away until the others started to crowd around him. Then he knew, she wanted to be a spectator.
Pressed up against the wall with four young women peppering him with kisses and trying to undo his shirt and pants, Bruce had managed to gently pull away until he felt the warm embrace of Aloe Vera behind him wrap her arms around his body. “Hmm, finally decided to come out of the cave hmm?” Pamela purred, nuzzling his neck and back. “Any word from Power Girl, I do worry about our new packmate.”
“She said put on some cloths.”
Giving Bruce a predatory smile over his shoulder, Pamela lowered her hands to his belt line. “I just think she’s jealous…”
“Hey why don’t you get a room!” Called out Jason from the couch, the remote still in hand. “Like… ANY room, this place has to have a hundred of them anyway.”
Her smile never leaving her ruby lips, Aloe Vera whispered into Bruce’s ear. “I think he’s jealous too!”
Rolling his eyes Jason went back to the television and surfed through channels. “Whatever…”
“What would you like Mr. Wayne?” Chirped Chelsea, her hands together at her chest as she looked to Bruce longingly. Hitomi being just as enamoured, gently tugged at the man’s arm. “Are you tired? Come sit with us.”
Slowly guided to the couch where Jason moved further to the side to give him room, Bruce breathed in sharply as the remote was passed to him. The extra attention was starting to get to him, especially how Aloe Vera continued to show him affection from behind, pressing her bare breasts against his head while massaging his shoulders. Adelle had perched herself on the floor to press up against his leg while the others leaned close to do the same or wait on what Bruce had to say. All this behaviour told him that even while in human form, the women in his mansion were behaving like a pack of wolves trying to appease their alpha.
Turning the channels that were still active in Gotham, Bruce stopped at the local news and was stunned silent… As were the rest of his pack.
Hiding behind a car while the camera tried to peer over its hood, Jack Rider shivered on camera ducking his head over the car to report. “This is Jack Rider from the Gotham news reporting from the heart of the city, a… MONSTER has appeared and is terrorising the streets!” Braving to looking up with his camera, the video feed showed the form of a blonde furred reptilian wolf chasing people back and force between the streets. Police had arrived and starting firing on the creature, only for their bullets to bounce off its skin harmlessly. “It’s pandemonium out here, nothing seems to be able to stop it!”
“Hey… is that Power…”
Not even staying long enough to let Harley finish her question and dropping the remote, Bruce ran back down the steps to the Batcave below the mansion, pausing midway to find Karen gone from her spot before continuing down to suit up.
*
Snapping her attention from one officer shooting at her to the next, Power Girl was getting annoyed. The gunfire didn’t hurt her in any way, but it was still annoying. “Grrrr… Would you all just FUCK OFF?!” Glaring at the officers with glowing red eyes, the police gasped out in pain and dropped their firearms when they glowed red from the heat. Stomping towards a police cruiser, Power Girl slammed her foot into the hood of the vehicle with enough force to fold the car in half before kicking it away with the same effort as kicking a can.
Cowering behind the remaining cruiser, the rest of the police tried to call for back-up, Karen didn’t care, for now they stopped shooting and she could go back to who she was looking for. “Come on, where are you… THERE!”
Galloping on all sixes, Power Girl barrelled through the streets towards a crowd of fleeing people, shoving cars out of her way like some rampaging rhino before grabbing a person in the crowd and hoisting her up like a toddler. “Gotcha now.” She growled, looked as if she would bite the woman’s head off… Before a black cable wrapped around her arm and tried to pull the woman away from her jaws.
“THAT’S ENOUGH!”
Looking over to the source of the cable, Karen spotted Batman across the street, standing in front of his new Batmobile trying with all his might to keep her arm steady. “You’ve done enough damage Karen, come back to the ca…”
“Oh, come ON! Don’t tell me you can’t see her for what she is!” She roared, easily snapping the cable by flexing her arm and stomping towards Batman with the crying woman in her arm. Karen pointed at her catch with an accusing clawed finger. “She’s just like US! How do you not see it?!”
Looking up confused, Bruce couldn’t see it. The olive-skinned woman cried and prayed in Power Girl’s iron grip was unharmed, yet to him all he saw was a normal person panicking to the situation. “And there! There’s another one!” Pointing out across the street, Bruce followed her gaze to a man staggering through the sidewalk, almost oblivious to the fleeing people or the 15-foot-tall wolf monster across the street standing with the Dark Knight.
“You… You can see those afflicted with lycanthropy?”
“Can’t you?!”
Bundling his cabling around his arm and placing it back behind his utility belt, Batman gestured to Karen to relinquish the woman to him, his eyes narrowing at the fact that the woman was more terrified to be in HIS grip than the horned wolf monster behind her. “Karen, gather as many as you can find and bring them back to the cave, I’ll take this woman personally to check her over.”
Rolling her eyes, Power Girl agreed and darted her head to look around. The moment her ears tilted back, she disappeared in a blur and the dishevelled man across the street disappeared. “Please! Don’t hurt me! I don’t have anything you want…” Pulling a hypo spray sedative from his belt, Batman injected the mild tranquilizer into the woman’s neck where she instantly went limp and passed out.
“If I’m wrong, I hope I’m wrong, you will be back home without a worry… But if I’m right, then your life is pretty much in ruins, but at least the lycanthropic plague will be contained. Pressing a button to his gauntlet, the roof to the Batmobile unfolded to allow Batman to place the woman in the passenger seat before taking up the driver seat himself. By the time the canopy closed, more police had arrived including Gotham’s anti-Batman SWAT team who had already opened fire on his vehicle. Pressing the afterburners to the Batmobile, Bruce was already flying down the road at top speed back to the Batcave, with his pursuers desperately trying to catch up.
