Secrets are revealled...
As soon as he saw Harley Quinn dive into the fissure in the middle of the living room floor, Bruce Wayne nearly panicked! Instantly he went to the fissure in the floor and called down to her but received no answer back. “Should we go down to see if she’s okay?” Asked Pamela with a worried look. Glaring back at the woman and deep in thought, Bruce made a decision and grabbed hold of Ivy’s hand, pulling her with him towards another room in the mansion where stood a grandfather clock. Opening the clock’s glass door and pulling a pin, Ivy gasped when the clock made a loud click and began to slide to the side of the wall to reveal a passageway that led down into the dark.
Following Bruce down into the dark corridor, Pamela noticed that it wasn’t just dark, it was almost pitch, it baffled her how anyone could see where they were going let alone knew each step down the curving stone stairs that led deeper and deeper under ground. It was only after she noticed that she and Bruce had passed the third flight of stairs that she could finally see dim lights that only lead deeper. “How far down do these go? Where are we going?”
Bruce didn’t answer her, instead by the time the two finally reached the bottom of the stairway, the pair finally came into view of an area that stunned the green skinned woman cold on the spot. All she could see was darkness as far as her eyes could see, which was almost nowhere what with the large space being so poorly lit she could only make out the flooring ahead of her. A massive natural cave that had to have been as large as the mansion itself if not larger with a single beam of light coming down from where what must have been the hole Harley had jumped through. More fearful then ever, Pamela clung to Bruce’s shoulder as the two made their way deeper into the cave, it baffled her how he was able to see where he was going while she could barely see in front of her own feet. She could hear sounds in the distance, squeaks and chirps from what she thought were birds. But what birds would hide in the darkness of a cave?
“Stay here.”
Standing still and holding herself in the dark, Pamela Isley watch as Bruce left her side and disappeared into the darkness. An uncomfortable 30 seconds later, the heavy metallic clank of a switch sounded off and soft florescent lights warmed up to brightness. From there the entire cave had become illuminated enough that Poison Ivy could now see where she was, the instant she did, she nearly gasped in horror. Bats, millions in number came to activity when the lights came on and revealed the cave, chirping and squeaking more fervently and looking straight at her. Lowering her gaze to the rest of the cave, Pamela noticed platforms spread across the cave; one showing a massive computer system adorn with screens, another with the ruins of a destroyed black car and other equipment she did not recognise. But what she did recognise was what looked like a wardrobe, build out of metal and was long with several displays and shelves filled with what looked like equipment and silver edged blades. At the very center of it all stood Harley Quinn, staring up at the main display where the costume of the dark knight hung.
At that moment, Pamela Isley went cold, an overwhelming sense of danger came over her when she heard the heavy footsteps of Bruce behind her stepping up to walk past her. It was then that her mind fully put the pieces together for her when Batman walked by her to approach the still stunned Harley staring up at his costume. “Miss Quinzell, please step away from there.” His voice was grim and firm, the same voice Poison Ivy recognised instantly as the Batman’s when he would speak to anyone that caught his attention. Slowly Harley turned around to look up at Bruce, tears flowing down her cheeks with her gleeful smile gone.
“It was you…”
“Dr. Quinzell…”
“YOU KILLED MISTAH JAY!!!”
Instantly she leapt on him, throwing punches and pounding her fists against his chest and shoulders, her tears coming faster as she sneered into attacking the man. “HE WAS EVERYTHING TO ME! HE FREED ME FROM MY LIFE! I’LL KILL YOU!!!” Kicking and flailing, Harley didn’t get much further until Bruce grabbed one of her wrists, but soon he was caught from behind when Pamela did the same. Throwing kicks and pounding her fists against his back before he managed to grab hold of her too and keep the pair of women from attacking him further.
“ENOUGH!” Hearing his command, the pair of women stopped yet Harley still whimpered while being held in Bruce’s grip, wiping the tears out of her eyes. “I’m sorry for what happened to the Joker, my… Affliction, when it manifests I have no memory of my actions.” Still sneering at the man, Harley Quinn continued to listen. “When the wolf takes over, it does what I wouldn’t dare do… But always wanted.” Slowly letting go of their wrists, Ivy staggered back holding herself while Harley fell to her knees. “I’m trying to make sense of it, trying to mitigate the damage I’ve caused, and I still want to help you… If you’ll let me.”
Slowly getting back up and wiping the tears from her eyes, Harley glared at the offered hand Bruce had outstretched to both her and Ivy. Instantly she slapped it out of her sight and sneered at Bruce, slowly outstretching her arms forward as if to reach out to Bruce’s neck to strangle him before grabbing the hem of his shirt and pulling him into a fierce kiss. Much to Batman’s surprise, he found her crying anew as she pressed herself against him before resting her head against his chest. “You killed Mistah Jay, but… You never beat me like he did…”
Feeling another pair of arms slowly encircle him and Quinzel, Bruce noticed Pamela hug close to the two, putting extra effort to nuzzle her face into his shoulder, an almost desperate look in her eyes as she did so. “You’re the only one I didn’t kill with a touch…” She murmured, just loud enough that Batman could catch her speak. Slowly separating, Harley wiped her eyes dry before looking back at the single beam of light cutting into the cave, her smirk returning.
“So what caused that? TV satellite crashed through the roof?
“No… That was Power Girl.”
