Ashley Visits Kurt

Kurt had fallen back into a deep sleep nearly the moment Heather left the bedroom, his body was much more exhausted from the small amount of movement he had done than in pain, luckily for him. Still, that didn't mean he was fine, a few times he woke when he attempted to roll over or put too much weight on the side of his head that Zack had beaten. Just around six, when he was in the process of waking up for the sixth time, he heard his door opening. He winced slightly and sat up, unsure who it would be, to his surprise it was Ashley.

Ashley slipped into the room with a small ice pack in her hand, "Oh, um, hey..." Ashley mumbled out as she saw Kurt sitting up, staring at her,

"Ash? What are you doing?" Kurt asked as he watched her nervously staring at the floor,

"I...I heard you wincing from the hallway," Ashley explained before holding up the ice pack, "I was gonna bring you this, see if it would bring down the swelling,"

"You were?" Kurt asked, looking at her slightly suspicious, "Why?" He asked watching her closely,

Ashley looked back at him for a moment before sighing, "Because I owe you one," She finally said while walking over and sitting down on the edge of the bed, "After what I made Zack do to you, the least I could do is get you some ice,"

"Ah," Kurt replied with a small nod, "Someone's having some problems with their conscious,"

"What?" Ashley asked back, frowning slightly,

"You finally realize what you were doing, huh?" Kurt asked as he took the ice pack from her hand and pressed it against his face, "Fuck," He winced out,

"You okay?" Ashley softly asked while sliding a bit closer to Kurt,

"I'll know tomorrow," Kurt replied with a shrug, "I think I'm fine but Heather's taking me to the doctors, she's worried and shit,"

"Well, it's not like she doesn't have a reason, Zack could have broke your nose or something," Ashley pointed out causing Kurt to chuckle softly and shake his head, "That's funny?"

"Kinda," Kurt replied with a weak smirk, "To be honest, if I were Zack, I wouldn't have stopped myself. I got off lucky,"

Ashley looked at him in confusion and surprise, "You almost sound like you're happy he did it,"

"Nah, I'm not happy about it, but I can respect it," Kurt explained,

"How...how are you so easily able to accept this? Why aren't you torn up? Kurt, Zack thinks you **** Chloe!"

"I didn't." Kurt sharply replied, "And that's why I'm fine. I don't care about what everyone else thinks, I know the truth, and I'm fine with it." Ashley looked back at him blinking a few times, "Ashley, it shouldn't come as a surprise to you that I'm not a good guy. I'm a prick, and I know it, and as much as it's bugging you, you know you are one too."

Ashley lowered her head, feeling a drop in her stomach, "I know...after everything I did to Zack and Chloe, not to mention Brandon...I didn't care until now. It didn't matter what they were feeling, as long as I got what I wanted."

"Exactly, I was the same way; I didn't give a shit about Zack. I wanted Chloe, you knew that, and that's why you got me to help you." Kurt said, finding it slightly funny that he had to explain Ashley's own motives to her. "We're just not good people, and sometimes, you get called out for it."

"But...I don't want to be like that," Ashley replied, her voice becoming shaky, "I was never like this until this week."

Kurt rolled his eye, "Oh god, don't be so dramatic, it's not like you have no fucking choice." Kurt calmly replied causing Ashley to look back over at him, "Just learn some fucking self-control, accept that sometimes you can't have what you want unless you're an ass to others."

"That's it? That's your advice?" Ashley asked with a short scoff,

"Yeah, because it's that simple." Kurt said with a small toss of his hands, "Think about it, if you just accepted that Zack was with Chloe then none of this shit would have happened." Kurt continued, "But you didn't have any self-control, you just did what you wanted to."

"I know...you're right; this really is my fault. I even played into your wants to try and get me, Zack. I am so sorry Kurt," Ashley sincerely said,

"Why are you apologizing to me?" Kurt asked with a slightly perplexed look, "I was with you, hell, I got you to blow me before agreeing." Kurt pointed out causing Ashley's eye to go slightly wide, realizing how easily Kurt had played her as well, "See," Kurt said noticing her realization, "I told you, Ashley, I'm not a good guy,"

"So you're a self-aware asshole?" Ashley replied with a frown, "I don't know if that makes you better or worse,"

"It doesn't matter," Kurt merely replied, "Like I said, I don't care what other people think, I just try and do what I want to. Hate me for it if you want, but that's just who I am, and I'm at peace with that."

Ashley quietly thought things over, sure Kurt wasn't sorry for what happened, he didn't seem even to care. Yet, Ashley oddly was jealous, at least Kurt knew who he was and was able to put things in its place. She didn't know if she just made a mistake this week or if she was actually a bad person. "You want me to get you anything else?" Ashley finally asked, looking back at Kurt,

"No," Kurt replied with a small sigh, "Thanks though,"

"No painkillers or anything?" Ashley asked once more,

"Heather already got me some earlier, I'm good, seriously," Kurt replied with a small smile,

"Okay, well, I guess I'll just see you later..." Ashley muttered back as she got up and left the room, with some soulsearching to do.
