"Welcome to the training grounds. I will see what you can do and help you learn how to defend yourself. Then we will face a few creatures in the plains. Look on the racks for something you feel comfortable with," she told him.

John stood in front of it, his blade in hand and started hacking at it. He also used the tip to stab the neck and under the arms. He was enough of a nerd to have learned a lot about combat without ever doing it in real life.

He got another warning about getting a sword fighting skill but he didn't look it up because it would disappear once he chose a style.

"You still use your strength even if you don't have much. The Italian style is for rapier, you won't like it. My style is too reliant on blunt weapons and brute strength, you need to take hits from time to time, no Valkyries dance for you. I don't think you will have the discipline or mindset for the Knights code or Bushido. That leaves the KriegsKraft, it's a German manual from the 16th century, it teaches skills used by Jaegers and mercenaries in the Holy Roman Empire. Swordfighting should fit you, a few other long weapons, a bit about bows, crossbows, and ancient guns. It should suit you," she explained.

John had listened carefully and agreed with her. He took that book and accepted.
