Phone Call

You spend the next few days practically camped out by the front door. You barely sleep, afraid that you are somehow going to miss their arrival. Your thoughts wildly go from fantasy to paranoia about all of the things that could be happening.

Thus the sound of the phone ringing on the fifth day is annoying as the time window has almost elapsed. You almost don't even pick it up, but then worry that it might be the robot company calling to inform you about a problem.

"Hello," you say as you pick it up.

"Hey, is this the Watcher?" you hear a feminine voice on the other end ask.

You almost say no, but then remember the package. "Yeah, who is this?"

"No time for this. We need help. Like, right now. I hope you can live up to the hype."

You hear a scream in the background as she rattles off the address. "What is happening?" you yell back.

The line goes dead though.

You think about calling the police, but try to reassure yourself that this all part of your request for them to be arriving in character. You instead jump in your car and drive to the intersection mentioned. It's late and no one is around. The only place they could be hiding is a darkened alley and you quickly rush over.
