You two have never exactly been friends. You live in a very small town, an outpost really for Ash to conduct his experiments and a few retired people to live out their final days. Your mother is an anomaly, she runs the only store so your family is actually super rich, not that it matters with nothing to do. Until today you haven't even been able to go hang out in the woods without fear of getting attacked by pokemon. Blue is Ash's grandson, or nephew, or maybe just a kid that lives in his house... You haven't ever been super clear on that because Ash is bonkers and Blue is so hyper-competitive that if you want anything for him you have to win a bet with him and that includes any information.
