The movies

After Victoria changed out of and purchased the dress, she and Zack left the store. Zack was happy to see her smile at something today. He was also glad he got to be the first person to see her in the dress. With the afternoon fading to evening, Zack figured they had about two hours or so before they would have to leave the mall to get dinner.

“Hey! You want to catch a movie before we go?” he asked his friend as she bought a bottle of water from a vending machine. Despite the fact that he wasn’t actually asking her on a date, his nervousness made his voice crack mid-sentence.

“Okay, you pick. I’ll get the tickets,” Victoria insisted with a smile.

“And I’ll take care of the refreshments,” Zack nodded. As the pair was on the line for the refreshments, a familiar voice called out to them.

“Well hello Mister Bishop! Miss Walker! Nice to see two of my most favorite and best performing students spending time together, although I didn’t know you two were dating! You two look great together,” an older female greeted the pair.

“Hi Miss Moreau!” Vicky beamed as she responded to her favorite teacher.

“Sorry to disappoint you, but Victoria and I aren’t dating, Miss Moreau, we’re just catching a movie together,” Zack informed the older woman as he tried not staring at the most attractive teacher at Azure Rocks High School.

Mary Moreau was somewhat of a new teacher at the school. She had replaced another teacher mid-year two years prior and made her history and geography classes some of the more interesting and visually-pleasing in the district. She was by far the most popular teacher at school, and at least ninety percent of the male student body had some sort of schoolboy crush on her. Zack included.

“Oh, that’s too bad! I figured for sure I had myself some new juicy gossip to tell my co-workers when we go back,” Mary laughed, knowing full well that if the two students weren’t dating at that particular time, they would be before Spring Break was over.

“No such luck, Miss Moreau!” Vicky laughed.

“I thought you guys were all going out to Heather’s cabin on Silver Lake? Is everyone else here too, or did you two change your mind,” Mary asked.

“We both had to work last night, so we decided to rest up today and head out either tomorrow or the next day, depending on the weather,” Zack fibbed to his teacher for the first time in his academic career, but he figured it was okay since they weren’t in school.

“Good idea. Well, my movie is about to start, so I’ll leave you two to yours!” Mary winked to Zack, letting him know that she didn’t completely buy his story.

“Bye Miss Moreau!” the pair said in unison as the clerk behind the counter filled their order.

“Bye! Bye! You two behave yourselves in the theater,” Miss Moreau laughed as she headed towards the theater her movie was playing in. In short order, the two friends did the same.
