The one above the garage

As Victoria led Zack up the flight of stairs on the side of parent’s garage, he still couldn’t believe that Victoria had her own place. Granted, he had never been to her house before, but he had never heard her talking about it in over two years of friendship.

“Okay Zack, just let me get the door and you can drop our bags by the couch. Don’t worry about taking off your shoes up here,” Victoria told her guest.

When Victoria opened the door to her apartment, Zack was instantly amazed. While it wasn’t a huge place, Victoria had plenty of space to call her own. Being above a two-by-two car garage, Victoria’s apartment was about twenty-four feet wide by about twenty feet long. The main room was a combination of a bedroom, living room, and dining area. The dining area had a small kitchen which included a stove and oven. Off in the corner was a closed door.

“WOW!” Zack marveled has he put down their luggage as instructed.

“Thanks!” Victoria giggled as she kicked off her shoes and stretched her arms out. As she did so, Zack took the opportunity to stare at her breasts.

“Seriously, how did you convince your to build this place for you?” Zack questioned his host.

“Well, I didn’t really convince him. The garage was originally a two-story guest house when it was first built. When my parents bought the place, Daddy turned the first floor into a garage. It’ll hold four cars but we only put two in it: Mom’s car and Daddy’s Nineteen Fifty-Five Chevy Bel Air. Since we don’t have many guests, they took out all the appliances, and we just used the upstairs as storage for all our junk. When Jenna was a junior in high school, Daddy had some contractors come in and refurbish the second floor. They spent two months turning it back into living quarters for her, you know, so she could learn how to be on her own a bit before college. Now it’s my turn. I’ve been out here since the end of sophomore year. I pay Daddy a hundred dollars a month in rent and utilities. Except for dinner, I buy my own food,” Vicky informed her friend.

“That’s awesome!” replied Zack. “So Jenna is the older sister who lives out in California? Don’t ever remember hearing her name before. Do you get to talk to her much?”

“Not as often as I’d like to. She’s twenty-six so her job keeps her busy most days. She will be coming home for Christmas this year though, so any of you guys who come home as well will get to meet her!”

“Wow. Twenty-six! I don’t know what mine and Taylor’s relationship would be like if there was eight years between us. Can’t wait to meet her. But anyway, if I didn’t say it already, this place is amazing, Vicky!” Zack scanned the room.

“Thanks, Zack. I just wish I could have you guys over. I mean, Ashley and Heather have been here, but any more people than that come over and my brothers start getting snoopy and obnoxious. Especially if I have boys over,” the green-eyed girl lamented.

“Like tonight,” Zack laughed. “So how’d Dustin get along with Frick and Frack?”

“Dustin didn’t really come over all that much. Not just because of them, but because his parents didn’t like me all that much. They felt I was a bad influence on him,” Victoria shrugged her shoulders when Zack gave her an “Are you serious?” look.

“That’s too bad, Anyone who thinks YOU’RE a bad influence is nuttier than squirrel shit!” Zack informed Vicky, which made her smile.

“Aww! Thank you, Zack. For everything: At the cabin, by the lake, driving me home, agreeing to dinner—“

“Not killing your brothers!” Zack interrupted.

“No. That I don’t thank you for. You should have killed them. Okay, maybe just one of them. It might have scared the other one into behaving!” laughed Vicky.

“Okay, maybe next time! You just tell me which one!”

“Hahaha! Okay, I will. Listen, I’m beat so I’m gonna grab a quick shower before bed. I promise I won’t hog all the hot water on you. Make yourself at home,” Victoria said before disappearing into the bathroom.
