Bait

"We know it's a trap. Why not use me as bait. I've faced off against Gwen before. I can handle it."

Emma scrunches her face. "She's grown a bit more powerful since you last met her still..."

Leo seems excited. "We can send him in to secure Tina then hit them hard."

"Alright. If you're willing Jack."

"It's the best plan I can think of."

"Here." Toby hands you a larger cross, to go with the cross around your neck and your gun, as well as what looks like a beeper. "Hit the button if you need us. And, you know the drill, don't look her in the eyes."

You pull In and park nearby the theatre.

As you exit you say. "Ok, I go in the front secure Tina. I hit the button and you guys come in back, guns blazing."

Emma nods. You let them go, count to thirty and open the front door. It is locked, but with a little shove it opens. The old theatre is gorgeous, but filthy and neglected. You leave little footprints in the dust. A curtain hangs across the stage, but the theatre itself seems empty. The stairs going backstage to the left are rotted and caution tape hangs there. You head up the right side.

As you turn the corner you see an attractive young women. As she blows something from her palm at you, the only thing you can think is she doesn't look like a vampire.

The dust hits you. The whole world seems to spin and sparkle. You close your eyes.

You open them on a beach. Next to you is Gwen.

She looks over. "This trip was a great idea Jack."

You are stunned. "Gwen, you're tanning? You're not a vampire?"

"Are you having that dream again, honey? Come on finish, your Mai Tai. I want to fuck you."

You down the rest of your sweet drink, close your eyes, and open them. You are back in the theatre. "What the hell?" You mutter. You get up and head backstage.

You see Tina she is being held by a pair of male vampires. Gwen is suspiciously absent. She sees you and winks. You click open the knife on your cross. With a precision throe you land it knife first in the vampires eye.

"Arrrgh!" It yells and the bursts into flames.

You push the button summoning your friends and charge the second vamp.

Tina steps on its foot and then knees it in the crotch. You grab the cross knife from the dust pile and swing it at him. He is gone in a puff of mist.

Your comrades have not yet arrived. "Tina, follow me."

You burst out back and your crew is in a battle with a half dozen vampires. You see Katy go down. Without hesitation you go full speed, driving you cross knife into his back. He bursts into flame.

A scratched and slightly burned Katy manages, "Thanks."

The addition of you and Tina turns the tables. Three remaining vamps disappear as mist.

Emma catches her breath. "Trap was meant for us. God it's good to see you Tina."

You hear sirens. "I think that's our cue. Do we head back to base?"
