Clara

The morning light came through the curtains as Clara woke up. She lay still for a moment, listening to the quiet house. She lived far from her family, so quiet days like this is the normal. Then she remembered that tomorrow was her sister’s wedding.

Her sister, Chloe, is six years older than her. Chloe is also the total opposite of Clara. She is very talkative, bold, and hated silence. While Clara usually kept to herself, Chloe always demanded attention. The morning passed quietly as Clara checked the pastel pink bridesmaid dress in her closet while answering a few messages. She tried not to think too hard about standing in front of so many people tomorrow.

The afternoon came and the air suddenly felt heavier as she felt a sudden shift. Clara blinked, and the room was completely different. She was no longer in her bedroom. The furniture, the lighting, and the faint scent of perfume were all unfamiliar. She stood in someone else’s house. Her clothes felt tighter and more revealing. Her body felt heavier, softer, and shorter hair brushed the back of her neck. She looked down at her hands, then caught her reflection in a nearby mirror. A familiar chubby figure. A short black bob. She was in Chloe’s body.

Clara opened her mouth and heard her sister’s voice come out instead of her own. The house around her stayed calm and nothing out of ordinary. But Clara was no longer in her own body, and tomorrow was still the wedding.
