What do you do?

Seek out Gloomstar.

Chapter 1808 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

Party A has made it to the free cities! More specifically, Tanver's Crossing. You once again pass through the front gates, though not with more notoriety than you had before. You get the feeling that word has spread, not just as a heroic party of adventurers that saved many lives, but your true identity of Kyle Warren. Whether that means a Demon King or a Hero King, you're not sure, though people look at you with a mix of admiration and caution.

Lady Nyllia Tesgella seems unaffected. She's used to the attention. "Ms. Masumi," she speaks up, though keeps her voice down to where only the party should hear. "You reside within the fortress of Zettanko in the Oraang Desert, so I wonder then if you know your way around these parts, or if this is all new to you."

It's difficult to read Masumi at the best of times, but it's even more impossible with the mask she has on. "I've been here, but it's been some time. Nowadays, I do know the desert more than anywhere else, but I was not born there. What about you, hero? I've heard much of your exploits."

"Though much of my adventuring career has been within the Empire of Tivera, I have frequently strayed both to Varat and the free cities. More to the latter than the former. There are likely many here who know of me, though I have no doubt in my mind that Kyle's reputation, or his party as a whole, overshadows much of my own fame. Especially in recent times."

"So you really have been spreading into Cresswell's domain."

"If Kyle saving lives counts as that."

Niki turns and points at the kitsune. "We not only saved a bunch of people, but found out he was the reason people were going missing to begin with! If the people like Kyle more, that's not his fault. William just sucks at having a domain."

Eva puts a finger to her mouth. "I don't think we should talk about that stuff too loudly, especially with so many eyes on us... I d-don't think I'll ever get used to how many eyes are always on us nowadays."

"What was the name of the place we were seeking again?" Nyllia asks.

"The Hungry Cyclops," you answer. "It's a brothel. We're not far. Actually, it's just around the corner there."

"A brothel? Goodness. I am not so sure if a pure, virtuous paladin such as myself should enter such a place."

Masumi chuckles.

Amara points ahead. Her eyes spot it first. "Ms. Gloomstar," she says. "It seems she is getting some fresh air, just outside the front entrance. We should catch her while she is not busy."

Your party approaches the brothel, though there's no need to enter this time. As she said, your contact is standing with her arms over the railing--Gloomstar--and her one visible eye catches you approach, she doesn't budge from her spot. She's has a hard face to read, though you get the feeling that she was expecting you to show up eventually.

"Hey, Gloomstar," you greet her. "How've you been?"

The twisted green dragon finally stands up straight. Her gaze looms upon you for an awkward, silent moment, until she finally speaks up. "Fine," she answers.

You can't help but feel a little strange looking her over after the doppel Time shapeshifted into her while the two of you were fucking. Of course it wasn't actually Gloomstar, but it looked and felt so realistic. "Monarch," you say. "She--"

"I know. She already knows your here."

"We're that loud, huh?"

"Your presence is. You can't really help it."

"Should we just wait here?"

The door opens and a head peaks out. At first, it's a rather gorgeous catfolk with long, flowing hair, though as she steps into view, the shape of her body morphs. Suddenly, she's the same short-haired redhead you met before. Time smiles wide and hurries up to you with hands crossed behind her back. "Welcome back, Kyle."

"I'm going inside," mutters the dragon. "You all have fun out here."

"All right, Lady Gloomstar!" Time waves her goodbye, and then bows her head in greeting to the others. "So, you all really shook things up as soon as you arrived here, huh? People keep talking about you. So what brings you back?"

"Business," you say. "And I still need to speak with the Trade-Lady of Tanver's Crossing about everything. I had to rush back home quickly before, but now that I'm here, it's time to exchange information."

"I won't pry. I just wanted to say hello. But I should get back to work now."

"It was good seeing you, Time."

"You as well." Then after flashing you one final, bright smile, she heads back inside.

That leaves you waiting.

As time ticks by, a few people come and go from The Hungry Cyclops. One man stops, and while he gawks at your party, you don't get the feeling he's looking at you. With a flustered face, she works up the courage to open his mouth and ask, "Are you girls, uh, working today? I'd really like to spend some time with the bunnyfolk..."

Eva gasps.

You grab her by the side and scoop her in close. "Not employees, man. She's with me."

Suddenly, his eyes widen. "Oh god. Are you--" He steps back and nearly stumbles over. "Kyle Warren, King of Castle Phoenix. I'm so sorry! Please forgive me, your majesty. I didn't know these were your concubines." The man then drops to hes knees and grovels. "D-Don't hurt me..."

"What the hell is going on here?" comes a voice.

Back on the street stands Eaera Fal'anis, Chief Ranger of the Black Hawk Riders. The auburn-haired elven woman looks to the pathetic man with a raised brow. But after a moment, she ignores him and sets her attention on you. "I am supposed to escort you somewhere."

Meanwhile, Eva giggles and speaks under her breath. "Hehe. I'm with him."

"Wait. You work for...?" you reply.

She shakes her head and puts a finger to her lips. "I only work for the Trade-Lady. But sometimes, a job's a job. Come with me. Oh, and it was suggested you wear something to disguise your presence at least to some degree. I know it is short notice, but it will be easier if you are not drawing the attention of every single person we pass by."

Though you can't see it, you can feel Masumi smile.

"I can help with that," says the kitsune.

Fal'anis inspects the woman's bushy tails. "Ah. Interesting company you keep, Mr. Warren."

You and the others disappear around the corner, and what emerges from the alleyway is an entirely different party... for the most part. It'll do the job, anyway.
