What happens next?
She’s convinced
Izzy lets out a soft breath, a genuine smile finally breaking through her nervousness. "Okay. Okay, yeah. If you're sure you don't mind... and if Joe's fine with it later, I guess that could be really nice. I just want to do this right."
She stands up, smoothing the pink dress down over her thighs. "So... what do I do first? Do I just stand here and look pretty, or is there, like, a whole process?"
Izzy takes a small step back as Marcus sets down his beer on the nightstand. He pulls his phone out, unlocks it, and glances at her.
"Alright. Just be natural. Don't think about the camera. Don't think about Joe. Just think about how you feel right now, in this room, in this dress."
She lets out a nervous laugh. "That's... surprisingly easy to do, actually."
She shifts her weight, one hand brushing through her hair as she turns slightly away from him. The dress rides up a little as she moves, and she catches the look on his face, the professional, appraising one, like he's already seeing something she doesn't.
"Am I doing it right?" she asks, voice soft.
"You're doing it perfectly," Marcus says. "Now do it again, but slower. Let your hand trail down your neck."
She bites her lip and follows his direction. Her fingers ghost along her collarbone, then her shoulder. The hem of the dress slips off one shoulder, and she doesn't fix it this time.
