What's next?
caught Red handed
The afternoon sun does something unfair to her.
You have always thought Sandra was beautiful. That is not new. What is new is the way the last week has stripped every filter off the thought. The wind in her short hair, the light on her bare shoulders, the easy hearty smile she keeps throwing at the water like she does not know what she is doing to you—Aphrodite could walk out of the surf and you would still only have eyes for the girl in the tiny sundress. The hormones are not subtle about it. Every glance at her feels like being hit with a warm, stupid brick.
She stays flushed the whole stroll. Not just from the earlier sex. From walking like this: no underwear, your cum still a faint slick risk on her inner thigh if the dress rides wrong, cobblestone beach instead of packed sand, but still enough people around that every passerby is a small electric shock. A couple with a dog. Two old men on a bench. A jogger. Sandra’s fingers stay laced with yours a little too tight, her smile a little too bright, her steps a little too careful when the breeze tests the hem.
Then your names get shouted from the side.
“John! Sandra!”
You both freeze like you have been shot.
Sadie, Lila and Maya are waving frantically from one of the little kiosks along the shore—three sisters from university, actually good friends, the kind who would notice if Sandra was standing strangely or if your faces were the wrong colour. Sadie is already stepping out from under the awning. Lila has her phone half-raised like she might take a photo of the coincidence. Maya is grinning that wide, oblivious grin that means they are going to want to talk.
Your brain starts building an escape. Angle your body. Keep Sandra slightly behind you. Invent a forgotten appointment. Get off the path before anyone gets close enough to see that her dress is doing nothing and she is still shiny from being fucked an hour ago.
Then you feel the tug at your side.
Sandra’s hand is tight in yours, but she is not pulling you away.
She is looking at her friends, lips parted, already panting under her breath at the idea of being found out by people she knows. Not strangers on a train. Not a random couple in an alley. Sadie, Lila and Maya. Girls who have sat in lectures with her, who have seen her in normal clothes, who would understand immediately if the wind lifted that hem or if she stood wrong or if someone looked too long at the way she is flushed and clinging to you.
The danger kink has a new favourite flavour.
Your girlfriend—freshly fucked, bottomless under a sundress, still full of you—is getting wet all over again at the thought of her university friends walking over and not knowing, or worse, almost knowing. Her eyes flick to you once, dark and hungry and a little unhinged, and the tug happens again. Toward them. Not away.
Sadie calls your names a second time, closer now.
Sadie reaches you first, all energy and volume, and immediately looks you both up and down like she has walked in on a punchline.
“You’re outside. In daylight. Who died—wait, no, don’t answer that.”
She grins anyway, already too sharp. Maya is right behind her, same age as you, the one who was actually in your lectures until a few days ago. Lila hangs back half a step, calmer, mother-hen posture already scanning Sandra’s face and the way she is standing.
The three of them clock it fast.
Not just that you are holding hands. The flush on Sandra’s neck. The too-short sundress. The careful way she keeps her thighs together when the breeze comes off the water. The fact that you two—famous shut-in neets who treat leaving the house like a boss fight—are on a cobblestone beach in the afternoon looking like you only recently remembered other humans exist.
Maya’s eyebrows go up.
“Oh my god. You finally did it.”
Sadie actually claps once, delighted.
“I told you. Years. Joined at the hip since forever and you act surprised.”
Lila’s mouth twitches. She does not pile on as loud as her sisters, but her eyes flick from Sandra’s bare legs to your face and back, and the look is knowing in a way that makes Sandra’s fingers crush yours.
You both stumble through the part you cannot skip.
Condolences.
For the Sister's parents sudden death.
The last few days of no communication.
You keep it short and careful, tiptoeing around the obvious landmine while trying not to sound like you are reading from a script.
The sisters let you finish, then wave it off with a completeness that would be shocking if you did not already know them. They never were quiet on how much they hated their parents, and also how much they didn't hate their only brother.
Sadie’s attention is already back on Sandra’s dress. Maya looks more interested in the fact that you two showed up at all than in any performance of grief. Lila thanks you politely and then, very gently, changes the subject as if the deadbeats they came from are less relevant than whatever the next dog leaves on the path.
“So,”
Maya says, folding her arms, smile slow.
“How long has this been a thing?”
Sandra is panting so quietly only you can hear it. Being found—being read—by people she actually knows is doing something vicious to her. She smiles too brightly, answers too vaguely, and leans into your side like she needs the contact to stay upright. Lila notices the lean. Of course she does.
Sadie leans in, shameless.
“You’re being weird. Weirder than usual. Did you two just—”
Lila puts a hand on her youngest sister’s shoulder without looking away from Sandra.
“Sadie.”
It is not a stop so much as a steering. The three of them are still smiling. They have teased you for years about dating. Now they have the evidence standing in front of them on a public path, and they are far too interested in the details you are trying not to give.
