Does Fuu best the Chieftain?

Fuu the Bloody

Chapter 23 by Djinn-Drinka Djinn-Drinka

Fuu struck for the Gnoll’s head as a first blow but the beastman was not mad like his fellows. The Chieftain dodged and swung his axe toward the monk.

Fuu fell on her back before swinging her hips to get up on her hands and kick the Gnoll twice with her powerful legs. As the beast stumbled back, Fuu rolled back to her feet and struck out with her blade, trying to kill him as quickly as possible.

Seeing her plan, the Chieftain stepped into her range, spearing himself on her blade before slamming a massive fist into her stomach. The blow threw Fuu several feet, where she skidded in the dirt before rolling back to her feet. She couldn’t stay on her feet as she fell to her knees and coughed blood. She knew better than to take an obvious opening. Fuu knew better and still fell for it.

Fuu couldn’t feel her fingers, the blow having numbed her extremities until blood could get back to them. Her staff had flown off somewhere but she didn’t have time to find it. The monk’s sole focus was the Chieftain, already sprinting in her direction to bring his massive axe down on her skull.

Fuu pressed her feat to the ground and put all the power she could in her legs as the massive monster barreled toward her. Just outside of striking range, a massive, blinding flash burst from Robin as lightning arced around the area. The Chieftain looked over. Fuu didn’t.

Fuu pushed off from the ground, her fist glowing with divine power. She slammed into the massive pile of muscles and fur, planting her fist into his neck. The beastmen stopped when the blow struck but the momentum kept the massive thing moving. Fuu clung to the body, turning her body as the pair fell with the Chieftain on his back.

Fuu mounted him before their momentum had fully stopped, summoning her gift and striking him again with her fist, the power blurring her vision with the strain. Fuu knew she shouldn’t keep pulling on her gift. She knew she should assess the situation. She did neither as she brought her hand back for another punch.

Blow after blow after blow after blow after blow was rained down on the still Chieftain. Each empowered by Fuu’s will and the divine power she had been blessed with. Each one wore away at her consciousness. By the third blow she was blind. By the fifth, she was deaf. By the tenth, she couldn’t register if she was still moving her arms.

Fuu didn’t know how long had passed when she came too, but she was panting for breath. She was still on top of the Chieftain’s cold body. She noticed a snake slither into her blurry vision and grabbed at it, only to yell in pain as she realized that the ‘snake’ had been her own long, braided ponytail. The force of the pull had shot pain down her whole body from her neck and her hands.

As her vision cleared, she noticed all the blood. She had expected it to be the setting sun coloring the ground and not blood splatter. Both her and the Chieftain’s painted the ground in a ring around them. The great beastman’s head was obliterated and, judging by the dent in the earth, she hadn’t noticed when it was gone and kept punching.

Fuu’s hands were a mess that hurt even to move now that her brain had registered them. She took a shaky breath. Why was she still sitting here? What happened to the Gnolls and the Bravos? Fuu heard nothing but the stray calls of instincts from the woods around her. As her vision finally cleared, she took in her surroundings
