Who sleeps with who this week?

Sleeping Arrangements

Chapter 4 by JaJayCOolAid

Randomized Sleeping Pairs for Week 1
Amanda Kane and Marissa Bird!
Leah Azar and Mikayla Williams!
Brianna Lundin and Paige Bell!
Juliette Barbeau and Elisa Acosta!

Isabella claps, smiling as the sleeping arrangements appear in the air in front of everyone.

“Oh wow! I know the anti-violence protections on the island will be put to use for this week, if only for a single pair.”

She giggled menacingly.

“Anyway! It’s getting late, so it's time for everyone to go to their rooms and meet their new, temporary roommates before heading to bed.”

Brianna held up her hand, as if to ask a question in class. Isabella sighed, nodding to her.

“Yes, Brianna?”

“The sun is still up, so how are we going to go to sleep if it's still day?”

The host snapped her fingers, and the sky suddenly darkened, the horizon turning purple, pink, and orange as the sun began setting.

“Time for bed, everyone!”

Doctor Kane and Marissa blinked, and then they were suddenly in a new place. They both looked around the new room they found themselves in. It was very comfy, with warm colors and a queen-sized bed against the back wall, opposite the door leading to the Hotel's hallways.

Marissa looked over to Dr. Kane, smiling as she held out her hand for a handshake.

“Well, it’s nice to meet you finally, Dr. Kane, even if it's in these circumstances. James has told me a lot about you and how much he enjoys working with you.”

Dr. Kane smiled back warmly, returning the handshake.

“It’s nice to meet you as well, Ms. Bird. If you’re anything like your brother, I do believe this week will be much more handleable than I initially believed. Even in these circumstances, as you said. And please, just call me Amanda. I’ve asked James to do the same, so I see no reason for you not to as well.”

“Then there’s no need for that ‘Ms. Bird’ either, just call me Marissa.”

The two women looked around the room, deciding to explore their living space further than a look at the surface. In the room, there was a single, full bathroom, as well as two large closets already filled with outfits, shoes, and accessories they owned.

On the side wall, a tall full-length mirror sat against the wall, and a comfortable-looking curved couch sat in the corner. Even if both women were used to nicer amenities and a more spacious room, they were still satisfied with what they were given. Taking turns using the bathroom for privacy to change into nightwear, Amanda and Marissa both peacefully lay in bed, agreeing to use an extra pillow as a wall between them.

Leah and Mikayla found themselves in their new room, a room which was immediately filled with tension, and not the fun kind. Mikayla despised Leah. As much as she resented James, she also hated that Leah not only ‘took’ away who she thought was the love of her life, but also ran away, causing the heartbreaking breakup to be for nothing.

Leah didn’t like Mikayla either, but not for any specific fault of hers, just because of what she represented. She did feel a little bad for James’ ex, knowing that their relationship was ruined because of her and James’ arranged marriage. But she would always put her and Jules’ happiness first, no matter what.

It was quiet as both of them took in their living space for the week. The room was painted in a cool light blue, with the furniture matching the vibe. There was a single queen-size bed, a full bath, a full-length mirror, and a curved couch in the corner, as well as two large closets full of all the clothing they owned.

To Mikayla, it was a pretty nice place to live in. Even though James was obscenely rich, she was not. Their relationship had bloomed despite the wealth disparity, and Mikayla never even considered choosing James solely because of his wealth.

Leah, however, was just as rich as James, and so she saw the room as below her usual standards. Even after running away with Juliette, she still had access to her family’s fortune, her father not having the heart to cut her off despite what she did. She lived in a very nice penthouse suite in New York, so this was a step down for her.

The two women decided not to acknowledge each other.

Mikayla huffed, holding back her frustration from showing on her face. This pairing was possibly the worst option for her, as even being paired with James’ sister would be less rage-inducing.

Leah ignored the other woman, grabbing a change of clothes to sleep in. Mikayla did the same soon after, and both women were standing next to the single bed they were forced to share, staring at where they were sleeping for the night.

With as many pillows between them as they could comfortably fit, they lay in bed and attempted to fall asleep.

Paige held back a sigh as she looked at her roommate for the week. It wasn’t that she didn’t like the girl. Well, she barely even knew the girl. But there were definitely valid reasons to be annoyed.

“So, like, I get grabby in my sleep, just so you know. And I take long showers, so you need to get up before me or it’ll be forever before you can shower. But, like, you seem cool, so I know we’re gonna vibe for the week.”

The room they were in was in a shade of purple, almost maroon-ish. It had all the same amenities as the other contestants, just with its unique color palette.

“Very well, we all have our own… tendencies, I suppose. And thank you; you seem very nice as well.”

Brianna opened up her closet, grabbing the skimpiest set of pajamas Paige had ever seen, and as someone who occasionally worked with lingerie models, that was saying something. She decided to follow the other girl’s lead, grabbing her own (much more modest) nightwear and getting ready for bed as well. As the two women lay in bed, keeping a small space between them, Brianna decided to strike up another conversation.

“You’re, like, James’ arch-enemy, right? What’s that like?”

Paige held herself back from being snarky. She was raised better than to be rude to people who were… intellectually challenged, to say it nicely.

“Our fathers are the ‘arch-enemies’; James and I were just caught up in their little rivalry. As you know, James works in education, while I work in the fashion industry myself.”

Brianna shot up giddily.

“O.M.G. You do fashion? I love clothes! And that’s your job! We should, like, totally go shopping together. I bet we could find some super cute outfits.”

Paige just nodded silently. Maybe it wouldn’t be too bad. Maybe the girl was actually a secret fashion genius. She really hoped so.

Juliette stood awkwardly as Elisa gave her a nasty side-eye. It wasn’t her fault that Leah didn’t want to marry a dude! Well, it kinda technically was, but that was besides the point.

Elisa was not typically a violent woman; she was actually quite calm and collected. But to see one of the two women who completely threw Mister Bird’s life into disarray made her mad. Juliette attempted to ease the tension, trying to develop some sort of relationship with her new roommate.

“So, uhm. It’s nice to meet you. I hope we-”

Elisa’s face turned red as she bristled.

“If you think you can try and be all friendly after being a part of that straight disrespect to Mister Bird, then you’re dumber than you look. Do you even know how much your little run-away derailed him? He didn’t deserve that. He’s a great man; he saved my family and gave me an opportunity to live without worrying about them and their safety. Puta tonta. Si crees que me voy a quedar aquí parado y te voy a dejar-”

Juliette gulped as the woman she would be spending a week sleeping next to continued to rapidly speak, switching back and forth between English and Spanish. The worst part was that, when she could understand what Elisa was saying, she was embarrassed by the valid reasoning for her anger.

Normally, Juliette wouldn’t let anyone get away with yelling at her, but as she watched her roommate stop herself from talking, letting out a sound of frustration, before walking over to her closet and grabbing a pair of pajamas to wear, and going into the bathroom to change.

Juliette did the same, taking the moment of respite to look around the room in more detail. The room was light green, with all of the furniture matching or complementing the walls. It had the same things as the other rooms (not that she knew that).

Elisa exited the bathroom, a stoic look on her face as she climbed into bed and placed a wall of pillows in the center. Juliette lay on the other side of the wall, still processing everything the other woman had said.

James sat down on the edge of his bed. It was pretty comfortable. Not that he was able to tell this morning… or whenever it was that he woke up on the island.

Looking around the room, he noticed that it was actually really nice. It was huge, with a whole kitchen and dining area, a large full bathroom, a massive closet, and a living room complete with 3 couches, a TV, and a coffee table. There was also a large fireplace, which fit the room surprisingly well.

“Hope you like it!”

James flinched, falling off the bed as he yelped. He got back up, seeing Isabella standing in the middle of the room with a massive grin.

“Can you stop doing that? Please?”

The pink-haired host rolled her eyes, placing her hands on her hips as she looked at James.

“Uh, no. It’s quite literally in my job description to appear randomly in front of people. You’ll just have to get used to it!”

James sighed.

“Okay then… Well, how are… the girls doing? Nothing too bad, I hope.”

“Your girls are doing great! Whole lotta tension, little bit of yelling, but no fist fights yet! That’s actually pretty rare for this show. Normally someone would’ve thrown a punch by now.”

James dropped back onto his bed, dragging his hands down his face. She called them his girls. He still didn’t know how he felt about that. That was a lie. He knew exactly how he felt.

Conflicted.

It’s pretty much any man’s dream to have a ‘harem’, but for all of the girls to not only be forced to be here, but also for them to have the history with him that they have… hell, he’s even related to one! His half-sister was part of it!

“Well, I see you’re compartmentalizing everything, so I’m gonna leave you to that. Just wanted to drop by one more time to check on you. If you need anything, just say the word and a staff member or I will be here to help!”

With her final words, she held up a peace sign before teleporting out of the room in a pink flash. James stood up, going over to his closet and changing before heading back to bed. He needed to rest after the ‘excitement’ of today.
