How d I es it go?

A Knight, A Demigod, and A Handmaiden walk into a Flesh Factory

Chapter 30 by OathkeeperPath OathkeeperPath

I fired my bow, light lacing through the sky, it struck one of the creatures, pinning it in place and casting the light effect further, protecting us from the void fog.

Me and Rox tried to back up Kay, But she was already charging the enemy, summoning the dagger again as soon as it could be then letting it fly again.

Roxy started a blade storm, working it to maximum strength while I wracked my brain and implanted skills for someway I could be more useful then just mitigating the environmental hazard.

I had it.

"Roxy I'm about to do something stupid, be on guard in case it turns hostile."

'I exchange my fate for yours.'

Near the base of the infection was a monster, I couldn't remember the species but it looked like a silver fox and a raccoon had mixed, it was being lead by two of its fellows before we attacked, it was still there dazed, and not hostile to us, therefore a valid teleport target.

As soon as I landed, I made a Mad Dash the rest of the way to the scar on reality and started to heal it.

*Ahhh! Smarter than the last time I saw you, might be fun to let you keep growing before I bring your doom. I doubt you'll have the chance though, my creations will keep tearing you apart long after this form is pushed from this plane.*

I pumped more and more power into my strongest healing while it talked.

Every time I increased my power output it would scream.

By the time it ceased to exist the creatures had realized there was an enemy amongst them, not just charging them with burning fire and ranged ice.

With the infection removed and the void fog dissipating again I would finally be able to pull out a different weapon, a claymore sword with a similar but weaker light effect appeared in my hand and I started the bloody work.

Kay seemed to be coming back to herself, making smarter moves and attacks instead of The Reckless single-minded abandon that had consumed her a moment ago.

What ever had driven her to break formation and charge without orders, despite all my hard work getting past her aversion to leadership, it was gone for now, but I was going to be a problem.

One I would have find a way to work around like I had her other quirks.

She now could see what kind of mess we were in.

One of the creatures got a hit in, I was already carving a bloody path to her but it would take time to reach her, you knew how one mistake, one wound, could cascade into defeat when a stronger warrior was beset by numerous weaker enemies.

Your worry was for not, as you saw her take her off-hand, touch it to the wound, heal it faster than you'd ever seen her heal before, hand still glowing touch one of her daggers, and throw it at another enemy all in one swift motion, while fighting off the first creature with her flame dagger in sword form burning it with each stroke.

You saw the dagger land, striking true, that was normal, however the astonishing part was the creature developing the exact same injury she had just healed on herself.

There was no time to dwell, there was still plenty to kill, her decision made sure you two had to do it up close and personal, but you think you understood the effect.

I was going have to talk to her when this is done, even with her upgrade we could not afford such undisciplined actions on the battlefield.

Even with your quick speed and strength you are slowly getting surrounded as you carved down monster after Monster.

The fog had dissipated almost completely now, it was worth the risk to end this here.

"Rox! OVER POWER THE STORM, CENTER IT ON ME!"

In the few seconds it took her to understand what you wanted and prepare, you changed your sword into a warhammer, brought it down to the Earth with this mighty smash, a Shockwave of pure Force pulverized the enemies directly around you, giving you just a second before you were surrounded again, blood red sword in your hand you dashed towards Kay at full speed, wounding several on your way and killing one as you slid below its legs to arrive next to Kay.

Half standing up, in one swift motion, you grabbed her and brought her low, defended by your body.

Eyes surprised, quizzical, and slightly angry that you would interrupt her fight thinking she needed help.

That look changed to one of understanding as your other hand went above your head, summoning your largest shield, pointed not at the enemy, but in Roxy's Direction.

The Blade storm hit before the Monster had time to take advantage, the sound was utterly horrific, somewhere between a fish hook through skin and Nails on a chalkboard.

When the storm ended as you stood up, holding Kay, the only thing left of the remaining Army was glittering dust.

"We are talking about this later, let's get to Rox."

She had the good grace to look admonished but there was frustration behind her eyes too.

When we got back to Roxy she was on her knees, barely, poor girl looks exhausted like she wanted to fall over straight into the dirt, I picked her up Bridal Style checked her over with my now glowing eye, she had drained all of her Godly Essence and near all her own.

I let her fall asleep in my arms as we walked back to camp, me and Kay needed to talk.
