My darling sister

Chapter 14 by XtorymateX

You stared at Lily’s limp body on the living room floor for a long second, then made the decision.

“Help me,” you ordered Emma.

She didn’t argue. Whatever fear and residual defiance she carried under the collar, she knew better than to refuse a direct command right now. Together you hooked your arms under Lily’s shoulders and knees, lifted her unconscious form, and carried her through the house. Her head hung loosely. Her feet dragged slightly whenever one of you adjusted your grip. Emma kept glancing at her face, the reality of what she had just done sitting heavy behind her eyes even as she obeyed.

You opened the basement door and carefully took her down the stairs. The air grew cooler and damper with every step. When you reached the bottom, your father was already alert inside his kennel, eyes wide with recognition and muffled fury as he saw who you were carrying. He rattled the bars hard, the gag turning whatever he tried to shout into useless noise.

You ignored him.

A second heavy kennel stood against the opposite wall — the one you had prepared but not yet used. Emma held Lily’s upper body while you unlocked the door and swung it open. Together you maneuvered her limp form inside, laying her on the bare metal floor of the cage. Her arms and legs folded awkwardly as you pushed them in. Once she was fully inside, you closed the door and locked it with a solid, final click.

Lily remained completely unconscious, slumped against the side of the kennel, her breathing shallow but steady. A few feet away, your father stared through the bars of his own cage, body rigid with rage and helplessness, forced to watch as his daughter was locked in beside him.

Emma stepped back, wiping her hands on her robe, the choke collar still tight around her throat. She looked at the two kennels, then at you, the usual bitching edge temporarily muted by the weight of what had just happened.

“She’s… she’s going to wake up eventually,” Emma said quietly. “And when she does, she’s going to lose it. You know that, right?”

Your father made another furious, muffled sound from his kennel. Lily didn’t stir.

You stood there in the dim basement light, looking at the two cages side by side — father and daughter both locked away — while Emma waited beside you for whatever order came next.

It didn’t take long.

A low groan came from the second kennel. Lily’s body shifted against the metal floor. Her eyes fluttered open, unfocused at first, then slowly sharpened as the pain in her head and the cold bars around her registered. For a second she simply stared, disoriented.

Then full awareness hit.

“What the fuck—?!”

She scrambled backward until her shoulders slammed into the far side of the kennel, eyes wide with panic and fury. Her hands shot out, grabbing the bars and shaking them hard.

“What is this?! Why am I in a fucking cage?!” Her voice rose into a raw shout as she looked past you and saw your father locked in the kennel beside hers. “Dad—?! Oh my god— Dad!”

She rattled the door violently, then spun her full attention back to you, pure rage and terror mixing on her face.

“You psycho piece of shit! Let me out right now! You knocked me out— you locked me in a kennel like an animal! What the hell is wrong with you?!”

Her voice cracked as she kept shouting, slamming her palms against the bars over and over.

“Emma—! Emma, do something! He’s lost his fucking mind! You can’t just leave me in here! Mark is going to notice I’m gone— people are going to look for me! Open this goddamn door!”

She lunged against the front of the kennel again, face pressed between the bars, eyes locked on you with pure, unfiltered hatred and fear.

“I’m your sister! You can’t do this to me! Let me out! LET ME OUT!”

Your father made frantic muffled sounds from his own cage, thrashing against his restraints as he watched his daughter panic and scream. Emma stood a few feet behind you, the choke collar still around her throat, saying nothing — waiting to see how you would handle the moment Lily fully realized where she was and who had put her there.

Lily’s shouts kept coming, raw and continuous, echoing off the basement walls as she shook the kennel door with everything she had.

You stepped closer to the kennel and raised your hands slightly, trying to keep your voice level.

“Lily. Stop. Just stop screaming and listen to me for a second.”

She didn’t stop. She slammed her palms against the bars again, face red with fury and panic.

“Don’t you fucking ‘Lily’ me! Let me out of this cage right now or I swear to God—”

“I said listen,” you cut in, sharper this time. “You’re not getting out by screaming. The faster you calm down and hear me, the faster we can talk about what happens next.”

She kept rattling the door for another few seconds, then finally slowed, chest heaving, eyes still burning with pure hatred as she stared at you through the bars. Beside her, your father had gone still, watching the exchange with wide, furious eyes above his gag.

You exhaled and began explaining.

“I’m tired,” you said quietly. “I’m tired of being the one everyone walked on. Tired of being the cuck. Tired of being the joke. Tired of smiling while this family destroyed me and then looked down on me for surviving it. Dad took my wife. Mom helped him. You looked at me like I was pathetic for months. I reached a point where I couldn’t keep being that person.”

Lily’s expression twisted with disbelief and rage, but she stayed quiet enough for you to continue.

“Dad is in that kennel because he earned it. Emma is wearing that collar because she earned it. And you…” You gestured at the bars between you. “You showed up unannounced, saw too much, and refused to leave it alone. So now you’re here too.”

She opened her mouth to start shouting again, but you kept going.

“If you want to be free, there’s only one path. You obey. The same way Emma obeys now. You stop fighting, you stop screaming, you do what you’re told, and you accept that the version of this family you thought still existed is gone. You become like my sweet wife — quiet, obedient, and useful — and then we can talk about the kennel door opening. Keep acting like this, and you stay right where you are.”

Lily stared at you as if she had never seen you before. Her hands were still wrapped around the bars, knuckles white. For a moment the only sounds in the basement were her heavy breathing and the faint metallic creak of your father’s kennel as he shifted.

Then her voice came out low, shaking with fury.

“You want me to be your obedient little pet like her? Are you actually insane? I’m your sister. I’m not going to—”

She cut herself off, swallowing hard, the reality of the locked door and the unconscious hours she had already lost settling deeper. Her eyes flicked to Emma, who stood silently behind you with the collar around her throat, then back to your face.

The demand was on the table.

Obey like Emma… or stay locked in the kennel next to your father.

Lily’s breathing stayed ragged as she stared at you, the first real calculation beginning to mix with the rage in her eyes.

You stepped closer to the kennel and raised your hands slightly, trying to keep your voice level.

“Lily. Stop. Just stop screaming and listen to me for a second.”

She didn’t stop. She slammed her palms against the bars again, face red with fury and panic.

The demand was on the table.

Obey like Emma… or stay locked in the kennel next to your father.

Lily’s breathing stayed ragged as she stared at you, the first real calculation beginning to mix with the rage in her eyes.

You looked at Lily through the bars for a long moment while the wet, steady sound of the man fucking your mother continued in the background.

“I’ll let you decide,” you said calmly.

Lily’s breathing was still ragged, her hands locked around the metal, but she went still enough to listen.

“You’ve seen how Dad lives now,” you continued, nodding toward the kennel beside hers. “Locked up. Gagged. Forgotten except when someone remembers to throw him scraps. That’s one option. I can leave you right there next to him. You can share the same life he’s got — the cage, the silence, the sound of everything happening on the other side of the bars. You can sit with him and find out exactly what that existence feels like day after day.”

You let that hang for a second before going on.

“Or there’s the alternative. You cooperate. You obey the way Emma obeys. You stop screaming, you follow rules, and you accept the new order of this family. Do that, and you still get to see your sweet husband at home. Mark doesn’t have to know any of this. You can go back to him. You can keep your life with him. But only if you choose to be useful and obedient instead of fighting me every second.”

Lily stared at you, face pale, eyes moving between your face, the kennel that held your father, and the wall where your mother was still being used. The man against the pike gave a low grunt and drove in harder, the sound underscoring every word you had just said.

Emma remained silent behind you, the collar around her throat a living example of what “obedient” currently looked like in the house.

Lily’s voice came out low and shaking when she finally spoke.

“You’re asking me to choose between rotting in a cage next to Dad… or becoming another one of your collared pets so I can still go home to Mark.”

She swallowed hard, knuckles white on the bars.

“That’s the decision you’re giving me.”

She didn’t look away from you. The basement filled with the ongoing wet rhythm of the stranger using your mother, the muffled sounds from your father’s kennel, and the heavy silence of Lily turning the two options over in her mind while she waited for you to confirm it.

A Few Days Later

The basement had settled into a grim, unchanging routine.

Lily had been locked in the kennel beside your father for several days. The initial screaming and rage had burned down into something thinner and more brittle. Her voice was hoarse from the earlier outbursts. Dark circles sat under her eyes. Her clothes were dirty and wrinkled from sleeping on the metal floor. The bright, furious energy she had thrown at the bars on the first day was starting to crack under the simple, grinding pressure of deprivation.

She refused the scraps.

Whenever you or Emma brought down the same garbage leftovers that your father had been surviving on — cold, half-eaten food scraped from plates, crusts, scraps that had already started to turn — Lily shoved the bowl away hard enough to spill it across the kennel floor.

“I’m not eating that,” she rasped, voice rough. “I’m not an animal. You can’t keep me down here and feed me trash like him.”

Water was the same fight.

The clean bottles stayed upstairs. What she was offered was the same cloudy, dirty water from a bucket, and on more than one occasion the alternative that had been given to your father. She clamped her mouth shut and turned her head away every time, even as her lips grew dry and her throat grew tighter. The refusal was stubborn, almost frantic — the last piece of control she could still claim.

Your father watched her from his own kennel in silence, eyes sunken, body thinner than it had been. He had stopped thrashing as much. The days of scraps and worse had already worn him down into a quieter, more hollow version of himself. Lily still had enough strength to glare and refuse, but the edges of her sanity were beginning to fray under the combination of hunger, thirst, the constant smell of the basement, the sounds of whatever happened on the far side of the room, and the knowledge that the door only opened when you decided it did.

On the fourth day she sat slumped against the back of the kennel, arms wrapped around her knees, staring at nothing for long stretches. When she spoke, the words came out less organized — repeating that Mark would find her, that this couldn’t be real, that you wouldn’t actually let her die down here. Then the anger would spike again and she would rattle the bars and scream until her voice broke.

She still wouldn’t eat the garbage.

She still wouldn’t drink what was offered.

The refusal was starting to cost her. Her hands shook. Her eyes looked too bright in the dim light. The confident, sharp-tongued sister who had walked into your house demanding answers was being slowly sanded down by nothing more complicated than time, hunger, thirst, and the cage.

Emma stood beside you at the bottom of the stairs when you checked on them that evening, the choke collar still locked around her throat. She watched Lily’s trembling form in silence for a moment before speaking quietly.

“She’s going to break,” Emma said. “She just hasn’t decided whether she’ll break by giving in… or by falling apart completely.”

Inside the kennel, Lily lifted her head at the sound of voices. Her cracked lips parted, and for a second it looked like she might finally ask for something clean to drink. Then the stubbornness flared again and she turned her face away, pressing her forehead against the cold metal bars.

The deprivation continued.

And the days kept counting upward.
