The Ultimate Sacrifice

The heavy blast door hissed shut behind the departing officers, leaving the interrogation chamber wrapped in an almost oppressive silence. Before they left, Vader had ordered the restraints removed. The magnetic clamps disengaged one by one, and Leia's arms fell limply to her sides. She lacked the strength to rise.
Bruises darkened her throat, exhaustion weighed upon every movement, and the lingering effects of the interrogation left her body trembling with involuntary fatigue. She bowed her head into her hands, and for the first time since her capture, tears escaped despite every effort to contain them. They were not tears of surrender. They were the unavoidable release of a body and mind driven beyond every ordinary limit.
Darth Vader watched without speaking. Whatever answers he had hoped to obtain had remained beyond his grasp. The prisoner had endured drugs, neurological assault, exhaustive examination, and relentless questioning, yet the location of the Rebel base remained hidden behind a will he could neither measure nor break.
At length, he turned and departed without another word, his respirator fading into the corridor beyond as the blast door sealed once more. Leia remained alone beneath the harsh white lights, drawing slow, uneven breaths while she struggled simply to remain upright.
Far beyond space and time, Darth Tempus observed through the crimson aperture in perfect stillness. The temptation returned immediately. No guards remained. No Dark Lord stood watch. A single portal, a single step, and Princess Leia Organa would vanish from history forever.
Every calculation he had made over the years converged upon this moment, offering him the prize he had pursued since claiming Darth Chronos's holocron. He did nothing. Instead, he extended his awareness through the holocron. The tapestry of time unfolded before him in shimmering threads, each future converging upon Leia before branching away once more.
Tempus watched her escape her cell only to become trapped within the crushing walls of the trash compactor. He followed her to the frozen wastes of Hoth, through the desperate flight to Bespin, into Imperial captivity among the clouds, and onward to the bleak halls and sordid humiliations of Jabba's Palace.
Tempus saw the long shadow of the Great Pit of Carkoon stretching across the Dune Sea, where another deadly trap awaited. Later still came Endor, where Imperial forces would again place her in chains before history resumed its familiar course. Again and again, history placed Leia in moments of confinement, peril, and apparent defeat, yet each trial left her unbroken.
Tempus studied every one of them with growing fascination. He no longer saw isolated opportunities to seize his quarry. He saw a sequence of crucibles, each reshaping the woman history celebrated while quietly changing those around her. If he wished to understand the fulcrum upon which the fate of the galaxy balanced, he could not be satisfied with a single observation.
Tempus would watch each trial unfold, introducing only the faintest disturbances, measuring how even the smallest deviation echoed across the decades. Alone in the interrogation chamber, Leia slowly raised her head. The tears remained, but something within her had settled.
The fear had not vanished. The pain had not diminished. Yet beneath them both, a quiet certainty hardened into resolve. Whatever the Empire intended to do next, whatever suffering still awaited her, there could be no compromise. The knowledge entrusted to her was no longer merely information.
It had become a burden she alone could carry. If preserving it demanded her freedom, she would surrender her freedom. If it demanded her body, she would surrender her body. If it demanded her dignity, then her dignity would simply become another price paid in the service of the Rebellion.
Beyond the portal, Tempus felt the subtle ripple his own presence had introduced into the current of history. It was not enough to rewrite Leia's convictions. It merely sharpened them, transforming determination into something almost absolute.
She was becoming willing to sacrifice everything rather than betray the cause she served. Tempus smiled beneath his weathered mask. History often strengthened those it sought to destroy. That, too, could become a tool. His thoughts reached farther into the future.
There remained another life yet unwritten, one history depended upon. Leia would one day bear a son whose choices would cast a long shadow over the galaxy. Removing her before that future came to pass would unravel too many threads at once, reducing the tapestry to meaningless chaos before he had learned all it could teach him.
Patience would yield a richer reward. The decision crystallized. He would not steal Leia from history today. He would accompany her through it. From the shadows beyond time, he would watch, study, and occasionally introduce the smallest of violations into moments history believed immutable.
Each subtle alteration would test the resilience of one of the galaxy's greatest heroes and reveal possibilities no holocron had ever recorded. When the final thread had been woven, when history had given him everything it could, then, and only then, would Darth Tempus take Princess Leia Organa from the galaxy that had forged her and make her his pleasure slave.
