What's next?
Blair says no
“I didn’t take you as a religious man.”
“I’m not. I’m just helping Anissa.”
She gives you a knowing smile. “Oh, you’re helping Anissa. You won’t get anywhere with her. I’ve seen her at parties, draws all the men, but every man who tries comes away disappointed. The only man she’ll ever let into her life is Jesus Christ, and if he did turn up, she wouldn’t know what to do with him.”
“It’s nothing like that.”
She raises one eyebrow. “Oh, really. Nothing like that. You can’t fool me. I know men. You should stick to women you can get, rather than chasing women like Anissa. She wouldn’t satisfy you anyway.”
You look at her flummoxed, uncertain what to say in response. There’s a twinkle of mischief in her eyes. There’s a mocking smile. But the words strike home, probably because they’re true. What does Blair know? She doesn’t know you’re now a sex god. She doesn’t know that you have the Snetterton Collection, or what the Snetterton Collection can do. Part of you yearns to show her. She’s a tall woman. She’s an intimidating woman. She’s a woman used to being in control.
Your silence speaks more than any words you can say. And Blair can read it.
“The answer is no. I’m not signing it. I will give you a piece of advice. Stop chasing women who you’ll never catch and start chasing women you can. Now get out of my office, because my next class will be here soon, and we can’t have you hanging round the gym when they get here. Scoot.”
You leave.
