It had been two years since the initial outbreak of the Nude Flu. While the initial shock had worn off, the virus never fully went away. It had become a part of life. Most of the time it was just the occasional case. But every once in a while a larger outbreak happened again. Especially as the virus evolved to get around the immunity that built up among the girls.

Some girls avoided going out if they caught the virus, but that meant missing classes and potential delays in their studies, which not everyone could afford. Of course, even these girls would almost always have one public incident before they knew to stay home. Others tried to hold in their sneezes as much as possible, but that usually only delayed the inevitable.

Work on a cure or vaccine was basically dead in the water. A disease that had no negative health effects, only affected women and caused them to spontaneously lose their clothes, was not exactly high on the list of problems for the people in power. If such a vaccine were developed, it would likely be exceedingly expensive too, as the government did not seem to care about setting up a vaccination program.

A small percentage of the infected even experience something called "Long Nude Flu", their symptoms simply never went away. Resources to help these poor girls were completely inadequate, leaving many to live a nudist life. It's not what most people immediately thought of when confronted with a virus that makes your clothes disappear, but the cost of constantly replacing your clothes was simply too high for many. Emily had even heard rumors that even some girls with the normal nude flu just left their clothes at home to avoid losing them. After all, they would almost certainly end up nude anyway. Emily herself had never been that brave, though. She found it far too embarrassing to be seen completely nude in public, so she always fought as hard as she could to avoid it.
