Chapter 2 by MahjongHater64 MahjongHater64

What chapter of Liam's newfound life do we follow?

Caitlin - Psychological Consultation

Liam looks at the business card in his hand and up to the sign on the building, checking if he's in the right place. It's a shared space with other offices and what not, but from the card, he's sure that he's in the right place. Stepping in, he is greeted by a friendly receptionist.

"Welcome sir. How may I help you?" She asks.

"I am here looking for Ms. Caitlin? I was told she operates her psychology center here." Liam answers, showing her the business card.

"Oh yes, Ms. Caitlin. Her office is on floor 3. You'll find it easily. Do you have an appointment?" The receptionist answers back.

"Ah, not really. Is that a problem?" Liam asks back, a little bit confused.

The receptionist smiles at him. "Well, you need to check with her assistant then, see if there are free slots. You want to take the elevator there," she points at one of the elevators on the side of the lobby. Liam nods and thanks her, heading to the elevator. Soon he arrives at the third floor and walks down the hallway to find Ms. Caitlin's office.

"Hi welcome, can I help you sir? Do you have an appointment?" a pretty brunette girl sitting at the desk asks, smiling at Liam.

"Hi, and no I don't have an appointment, but I was recommended to Ms. Caitlin." Liam replies, showing her the business card. The brunette checks her computer screen and then turns to him again.

"Unfortunately we're full for today, but I can jot your name down and put you on the list." She says, ready to type his name down. Liam nods.

"Liam." He says. As he says that, he notices that her eyes light up, staring at him with the kind of smile when you win something.

"L-Liam. Right. Um, if you can excuse me for a second or two I'll be right back." She said before going into the room behind her, leaving Liam alone in the waiting area.

It took a second for Liam's brain to catch up to what just happened. 'So they don't automatically recognize me, or maybe they do but need my name to confirm?' He asked himself. It's not long since that weird thing happened, and he's been steadily enjoying the things it lets him do. But he only did so with the women that already know him. As they, often time, are the first one to approach and try to confirm what they saw on that fateful day. Like Kina, a good friend of his that in fact recommended him to come here. In fact, she's the one who put a name to the thing that happened; The Click.

So this is the first time he interacts with someone that fully doesn't know him. Sure he's been having fun with his friends and their friends, and select few neighbors in his apartment unit. But they are the one that came to him or invited each other to him. Now that he thinks about it, women that don't know him haven't approached him, at all. Maybe those who know him more as a stranger don't have the drive to approach him. Maybe they were waiting until he came to them. Not that he actively does so either. The rest of the world seems to continue living on, not noticing the change that happened. He wondered if this thing would work on someone who didn't know him, if it would work at all. But now he knows. And he's going to enjoy it.

He takes a seat, leans back, and waits.
