A person seeking asylum.
I get up. I can see little as my left eye has swollen and is almost closed. I put on a bathrobe and decide to take a cold shower. As I get out of the shower, I run into Madelon. "You are up early."
"I could say the same to you with your injuries."
"Rhythm is a bitch. Doesn't explain the woman who wakes up around 9:30 every day for work."
"Fine, I needed to give her some quests just like most others. Can I get sole quest rights to her?"
"Sole right? But, sure, you being the one to give her quests was my plan anyway if you want to keep her in your life. Don't push her to me. If she is a lesbian, she is a lesbian, okay?"
"Yeah, thank you. Lilliana wants to get perks if possible. They are way more powerful, she says."
"That is true, but that doesn't mean I want to do that. Balance is important. Especially for new targets, they don't understand or expect LifeQuest to give them actual benefits."
"I am considering grabbing an additional target for perk share, but with how quickly I can level up now, I might actually be able to increase the number of deferred quests if I wait a day. Auto-accept seems more interesting than rules for now. Most of the targets have people who I like the quests they have given the past few days, and seem to be understanding what they need to do."
"You decided on anyone's classes yet?"
"Nope... I have a few ideas for Lilliana. Dominatrix, Boss Girl, Madam, Queen, or something else that would imply she is some sort of dominating woman. Katrien, maybe simply a manager. Estera, I will leave it up to you, but Shining Knight is an option. Roos and Anne are also things I need to plan around with Robin's new quest."
"Shining Knight, interesting, maybe. Katrien is just there to make money for themselves and you guys, right? Then the simple manager works. Lilliana, Dominatrix and Madam have a stronger sexual lean in contrast to Queen and Boss Girl, who don't. Anne, I can't give input right now. Roos is up for anything as long as it is with you." I add a class to Katrien, the rest I will have to think longer about.
I start making breakfast for four. Putting bread in the oven, grabbing butter out of the fridge, and putting all of the spreads on the table. "We need to really get some furniture to furnish the living room," I say with a chuckle. "Only after the food, though." Madelon decides to go sit on my lap, turning to the side.
Estera enters and walks up to Madelon. Kisses her and asks, "Fresh bread? That is a rare treat." No comment that my sister is sitting on my lap like a girl would with their boyfriend. None Siscon is doing some heavy lifting.
"Perks of living with a chef, I suppose. Not to knock my sister, she has been working for the catering place I work for for a week. But I try to make bread each week so I can finish it during the week. I usually par-bake stuff, but I have been in a bad state for the better part of the week." I reply.
"I have lost my home, not my job. The farm I work for will accept me as a lesbian anyway, but the housemates kicked me out. Returning home is also not likely. With my sexuality, and the current political backsliding on LGBTQ stuff." Estera says, looking between Madelon and me. Focusing every once in a while on where my hand is on her hip or her hand on my shoulder.
"You likely know your rights as a EU-citizen better than I. You can live here; this place is in my name. I will give you a room we will get you a bed. I hope you understand that this is temporary."
"What would it take for it not to be?" She says, finally, not drifting between Madelon and me, focusing on my face.
"Pieter, why would you kick her out!" Madelon says, looking angrily at me. Astera doesn't look at her, still focused on me, seeing how I have the power.
"One, I never said I would definitely kick her out. But you do understand that Robin and I want to have a poly-relationship with more women. That might mean we need the space. It also means that if she is uncomfortable with it, she might want to leave. In order to stay.... You would need to prove you are a permanent part of the family. You don't need to do that now or soon. You are a temporary guest who is here until you can get a place here or until I can be sure where we stand on the other part."
"Your sister overreacts. I see your point. If you say I can stay forever, you cannot remove me if I fight with you or your family. It is to protect, not to harm me. I will look into other housing." Astera says, and I give them a nod in response. I notice her release a breath I hadn't noticed she was holding. Understanding my reasoning, getting confirmation of it lifts a weight off her shoulders.
"You dare justify him with that response. I want you to stay. Why does this not get taken into account?" Madelon protests. She is getting more annoyed. Astera's look has changed; she has a small smile seeing Madelon fighting for her.
"He is. He honestly is, but he is also taking into account that we may break up. Would you want to live with me then?" Astera pleads with Madelon on my behalf, a good sign. I am nodding along as she is doing it. "How about we go for a walk for now?"
"The bread is done baking in 8 minutes, and it needs to cool off for a bit. Take a walk, enjoy your walk and have a good talk." I say making it easier for them to leave. "Madelon, you told me you referred her to LifeQuest. Give her some pointers while you are at it." Madelon gets off of me and glares as she leaves. I text her. 'Sorry for playing hardball, I need to sell the believability, you know. The quest will likely not allow me to kick her out, but making terms might keep her in line.'
