Lisa teases the boys

“Looks like you two had the same idea,” Lisa replied, leaning back against the jets.

“It’s the best spot on the property,” the other chimed in.

The conversation quickly picked up. Lisa carried it easily, tossing back spirited remarks. She leaned forward, engaging each of them individually as she talked, glancing from one man to the other as though she couldn’t decide which one amused her more.

Natalie answered when someone spoke directly to her, but let Lisa carry the conversation. She wasn’t unpleasant, simply more reserved, and when they asked where they lived in the complex, and whether they used the hot tub often, Natalie gave a vague description, pointing in the general direction of the bulk of the buildings.

“Not nearly enough,” Lisa chimed in, regarding using the hot tub. “If this was at my place, I’d be out here every night.”

One of the men smirked. “Well then, I’m glad we happened to catch you while you’re out here.”

Lisa giggled, soaking up their flirting attention. “Guess I’m lucky to have something to look at while I’m here.” She glanced sideways at Natalie, amusement sparking in her eyes. “And we’re all lucky I got to drag her with me.”

Natalie shook her head, feeling the blood rush to her cheeks. “I’m just here for the soak.”

“Nothing wrong with that,” the other man said, leaning an elbow along the ledge. He kept his eyes on her a little longer than what was strictly polite, and Natalie was suddenly a little more grateful for the bubbles obscuring her.

They sat there chatting for several minutes, and Lisa was happy to flirt and bask in the attention. The men asked them if they worked nearby, and made a couple of jokes about how unfair it was that women like them had been “hiding out” and failing to utilize the hot tub. Lisa volleyed back every time, snickering, while Natalie mostly let her sit in the spotlight, offering nods and shrugs, and short answers when their questions were aimed at her.

One of the guys tipped his bottle up for another drink, and Lisa caught the expression on his face when he swallowed. When he caught her watching, he grinned and held the bottle out across the bubbling water. “Want some?”

Lisa squinted at it, then him, with a playful expression crossing her face. “What is it? Because you didn’t look like you were drinking water. Is it some kind of protein thing?” Her eyes dropped briefly to his chest and shoulders that were nicely sculpted, before she smirked. “You look like the type.”

He shook his head, grinning. “Trust me, it’s a lot better than that.”

Lisa arched a brow as her curiosity spiked. Giving it a skeptical look, she contemplated it for a second, then reached out. “I don’t know…” she teased, stopping short of the bottle. “My mother told me not to take drinks from strangers.”

“Good thing I’m not a stranger anymore,” he shot back cheekily. “Come on, one sip. You’ll thank me after.”

Lisa shook her head before finally curling her fingers around the bottle. “If I keel over, she’s pressing charges,” she said, turning her head in Natalie’s direction, then tipped it up for a cautious sip. It caused her to jerk back almost immediately, coughing once as her eyes widened.

“Oh my God,” she said, wincing as she swallowed hard. “That’s certainly not water, or a protein drink.”

The burn stuck with her, and she licked her lips, staring at the bottle with mock-accusation before handing it back. “You could’ve at least warned me of how strong it is.”

Natalie had leaned in, a little concerned, but stopped short at the sound of Lisa’s voice.

“I thought apartments didn’t allow **** at the pool,” Lisa said, and settled back against the edge.

“They don’t. So it’ll have to be our little secret,” the man said, taking his bottle back with a crooked smile.

“We’re good at keeping secrets,” his friend added, lifting his own bottle as his eyes slid toward Natalie.

“Why doesn’t it surprise me to hear that?” Natalie said, shaking her head at his not-so-subtle comment.

The man just tilted his bottle toward her in a silent offer.

“Go on. I survived,” Lisa urged, nudging Natalie lightly with an elbow.

“Fine,” Natalie sighed, reaching out. “But if I spit it back out, I’m spitting it on you.”

“Good to know you’re a spitter,” the guy shot back with a cocky tone.

Natalie paused with the bottle halfway to her mouth, giving him a deadpan look. “Really?” she said, then shook her head disbelievingly. “I can’t believe I’m about to drink something when I don’t even know what it is, out of a bottle from a guy I just met, who’s already making really bad jokes,” she muttered.

Both men laughed, and Lisa leaned against her shoulder with a smirk. “That’s my girl.”

Natalie rolled her eyes, tipped the bottle back, and swallowed. The sharp burn hit instantly, making her cough into the back of her hand as her eyes watered.

“God- yeah,” she managed, shaking her head as the taste lingered. “That’s definitely not water.”

The men raised their bottles in a “cheers.” Lisa joined in the encouragement, brushing Natalie’s arm.

“See?” the guy said, happily taking the bottle back. “It’s not so bad once it’s down.”

Lisa bumped Natalie’s shoulder with her own. “You doing OK?”

Natalie gave her a sideways look but nodded.

The men kept the banter rolling, leaning into the chance to entertain the ladies. Compliments were slipped into their jokes of how the two of them had brightened up the night. Then complaints of how it wasn’t fair for the best-looking women in the complex to never take the time to come down to the hot tub.

Lisa soaked it up, tossing frisky remarks right back at them. She leaned forward when one of them made a crack about his gym routine, letting her eyes blatantly travel down his chest before she winked at him.
