Sasha Belt sat in The Grand Library reading fine poetry. She was keen on making her mark as a new poet. Maybe gain the King’s attention. Read for the crown.

Head in the books. Evening drew on. She was supposed to meet her boyfriend an hour ago.

“Hey Bookworm…” Diego said placing a hand on her head.

She yelped, “You scared me… Oh wait… I’m sorry…”

She checked her watch. She was supposed to meet him in Town Square for dinner.

“You came all this way…” she said.

“Of course… Otherwise you’d be here and locked in at closing time…” he said.

She gave a guilty smile. He knew her.

Sasha was a half-elf. Had the ears and intelligence, but the emotional control of a human. She had pale mint skin and dark pink hair with blonde streaks.

Diego was a tall human. Darker skin. Loose curly brown skin. Light body armour with Pern insignia — A circle bubble with a sword in the middle.

They went for dinner — and left the poetry at the table.
