Finding Jane

Mark wasn’t sure how he ended up in this situation, but he wasn’t complaining. Especially with the potential reward he was going to get, plus some more that was implied by the situation.

Still, walking up and down the bougie part of town while time was frozen, looking for a specific person he never met before, certainly wasn’t on his mind when he woke up this morning.

“Is this her?” Katie asked aloud as she stopped in front of a frozen brunette.

“Looks like her,” Mark replied, looking at the photo Haley sent them on his phone.

With Time currently stopped for the whole world, save for Mark and Katie, it made things easier when looking for a specific person, in this case, Jane Dawkins.

Per Vivian’s letter, Jane liked to peruse 1st and 2nd street, looking for rich people to rob. No love was lost for the rich people getting robbed, but unfortunately for Jane, she had targeted the wrong person. Now they stood in front of a time stopped diamond face shaped brunette who in all honestly looked like she was about to rip off an obviously rich guy’s wallet.

“Check to see if she has an ID on her,” Katie pointed out.

“Would someone actively committing a crime carry their actual ID on them?” Mark replied.

“You do if you want to drive somewhere else afterwards.”

“Point.”

Without saying another word, Mark began to pat the frozen teen down, with him taking longer in some spots than necessary. Katie didn’t stop him, but simply rolled her eyes at this.

Soon, Mark had successfully located a wallet.

“Well will you look at that. Jane Dawkins, age 18. Address is in California though, so that’s probably not their hideout.”

“Not sure if it’s a shame, or a boon, since that means you get to take her home. Possibly to keep?”

“You know me so well,” Mark said with a wide smile on his face. “Mind helping me carry her to the car.”

“Are you going to freeze her first?”

“Nah,” Mark replied. “I’ll just time frozen until we get back to the house. Then we can interrogate her”

Before Katie could reply, he approached the rich guy Jane had been pick-pocketing, and much quicker than with Jane, found his wallet.

“What are you doing?” Katie asked.

“He was being robbed anyway if we didn’t intervene. Might as well benefit a little bit from it.” He then removed the cash from the thick wallet, before returning it to the frozen man, pocketing the cash for himself. “Now, help me with Jane.”

“Ok,” Katie replied simply, not pushing the point. Without saying another word, she leaned down and grabbed Jane by her ankles, while Mark carried her by her armpits. Together, the carried the pick pocket to Mark’s car.
