Seeing Things Differently

Lucy's head was spinning. With her attraction to Jay having dropped to practically zero in an instant, all the many faults of his that she had been ignoring until now suddenly became glaringly apparent to her. He was not a great guy at all, that much was now clear. He had an extremely high opinion of himself and put his own needs and wants over Lucy's each and every time. He acted like she was completely disposable, and almost seemed to think she should be grateful he allowed her to date him. Well, she'd had enough of that shit. Lucy would let Jay know they were finished soon enough, but for now she needed to go outside to get some fresh air and clear her head.

Almost the moment she stepped onto the street, Lucy was hit by a strange but welcome revelation - there were way more hot guys out there than she had realised. They seemed to be just about everywhere she looked - the out of shape guy with half his arse hanging out of his badly fitting jeans as he drilled a hole in the road, the scrawny nerd emerging from the comic book store clutching a pile of colourful magazines, the short, balding man in his thirties who looked like he had been dressed and styled by his mother. Where had all these cuties been hiding themselves until now?

Lucy couldn't be happier at the thought she was about to be single again. She was starting to feel like a kid who had been given the keys to a candy store. Everywhere she cast her gaze there were gorgeous guys to be found - and the best thing was she never had to put any effort into attracting men, so snagging one ought to be a cinch. She could just sit in plain sight looking pretty and they would surely come to her. She got hit on all the time, whether she wanted it or not, and right now she definitely wanted it. So she strolled into the centre of town, found a bench to sit herself on where she was in view of as many potential new suitors as possible, and quietly applied her lipstick.

It didn't take long before she was approached. A tall, conventionally handsome man in an expensive tailored suit strolled over to try his luck. Lucy politely but firmly gave him the brush off. Not long after, an athletically built guy in fashionable streetwear, who looked like he could have been a model too, stopped by and confidently introduced himself. Once more, Lucy quickly made it clear she wasn't interested.

She sighed to herself. None of the hot guys were showing any interest in her, even when she tried to make it easy for them. There was one in particular who had caught her eye - a lanky, timid looking young man with greasy hair who was dressed like it was the nineteen fifties and wore thick prescription glasses. Lucy had smiled at him, preened herself unsubtly and attempted to make eye contact, but he had quickened his pace and hurried past while trying to avoid looking directly at her, almost as if he was scared. Why did she seem to have that effect on the kind of guys she now liked?

It wasn't something she was at all used to doing, but Lucy was starting to realise that if she wanted to find herself a guy she was actually attracted to, she was going to have to take matters into her own hands and do the approaching herself. But first, she needed to settle on someone to seduce and, in whichever direction she looked, Lucy found herself spoiled for choice.
