Chapter 9
by
GrandoArdens
How does she react?
She takes it well
Jake freezes in fear, expecting Janie to freak out and chase him out of the house. He's tempted to pull away from her, but at this point she'd probably notice and think he's been doing something worse than he actually has.
Janie wiggles gently against Jake's body, filling her lungs and stretching out almost like a cat. She turns her head downward pressing it against the pillow, inadvertently pressing her neck up into Jake's face. She notices that, and freezes as well.
Her hand comes up to her chest, feeling around until it finds Jakes arm around her waist, and then follows the shape backward to make sure of where it's coming from.
Then she seems to relax again.
"Good morning, Jake," she mutters sleepily, a smile in her voice. "Seems like you enjoyed your accommodations."
"Best night of my life," Jake laughs nervously. He pulls his face away from her neck, but keeps his arm around her. "I want you to know I just woke up like this, too. I didn't do this on purpose."
"Don't worry about it, big guy," she sighs, using the name she used to tease him with when he was a kid. "I always sleep better when I'm the little spoon anyway."
They lie there together for a while, just lazily enjoying the morning, until Jake's phone dings on the nightstand.
"Sounds like Eric's awake," Janie says, pushing Jake away gently. "You mind getting up first? I'm not really decent under here."
Somewhat reluctantly, Jake starts to climb out of bed, but quickly notices his morning wood standing tall and poking out of the loose fly of his cotton boxers. He glances back at Janie, who's still curled up toward the wall, then tries to stand up, get his shorts from his backpack, and put them on all with his back to the bed.
When he turns around, Janie has rolled over onto her back and is openly staring at him, chewing on her lower lip.
"Y'know, you grew up kinda handsome," she growls, then blushes as she hears herself say it. "For a creep!"
Jake shakes his head and walks toward her, Janie's eyes going wide as he looms over her on the bed, but he's just there to grab his phone.
"Eric's making breakfast," he says, reading the text. "You coming?"
"I'll be there in a bit. I need to... wake up a bit more first."
What's for breakfast?
