Ask Megan if they talked during school

Megan's fingers stilled on her phone screen, her chipped black nail polish catching the fading light. She raised an eyebrow, her dark eyes narrowing slightly as she met John's gaze. "Yeah, I talked to him. What's the big deal?" She shrugged, the strap of her crop top slipping down one shoulder.

Sarah kicked her sneakers onto the center console, her neon pink socks a jarring contrast to the faded upholstery. "Damn, Megan, you really hooked up with that guy?" She smirked, slurping her soda loudly.

John's hands clenched into fists in his lap, his palms still smarting from the earlier fall. "He's not just some guy, Megan. He's a—"

Megan cut him off with a sharp laugh. "Oh my God, calm down. You think he's going to hurt me or something?" She rolled her eyes and turned the key in the ignition. The Honda coughed before roaring to life. "Jamal's a jerk, but he's not stupid. He knows I'd make his life hell if he tried anything."

John swallowed hard, the memory of Jamal's taunts still fresh in his mind. "He sent me a video today," he muttered, his voice barely audible over the engine's rumble.

Megan's gaze flicked to his, a hint of curiosity sparking in her eyes. "What kind of video?" she asked, her tone a little softer.

John hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But something about Megan's expression put him at ease, and he found himself recounting the events of the day – the video, Jamal's taunts, and the humiliating confrontation in the hallway.

As he spoke, Megan's expression darkened, her eyes flashing with anger. Sarah, sensing the tension, leaned forward, her eyes fixed intently on John's face.

When John finished, Megan's jaw was clenched, her fingers drumming a staccato beat on the steering wheel. "I'll take care of it," she said, her voice low and even. "Don't worry about it, John."

But John couldn't shake off the feeling that he was already in over his head.
