The hard choice

The presence of this creature, this being that seemed both beautiful and terrible was entrancing and addictive. It brought you joy to look upon her naked and shapely form, yet there was a secret, quiet voice in the farthest reaches in the back of your mind that issued a warning. This thing will hurt you, it said, this thing will destroy all there is inside of your heart.

“What is your answer?” The being asked, her voice husky and delighted. “ What path will you walk, father of my flesh?”

Your mouth went dry, your throat tight with worry. You couldn’t answer, couldn’t bring the words forward to your tongue. After a small eternity of deliberation, you managed a weak utterance. “I need to think.”

Her nostrils flared in a momentary display of hatred, but it was quickly subsumed under a mask of affection. “Very well, take a day to think. But come the morrow, I will have an answer from you.”

You stumbled from the attic, down into your house and then out the front door, walking down the street and then clumsily turning into a light jog. You didn’t know where you were going, didn’t know if there was any place that could offer sanctuary from this nightmare. Eventually your wanderings brought you to a park, and to a bench that you collapsed on.

What could be done? You asked yourself that over and over. Perhaps the magic of your ring had some counter against this new creature, this incarnated demon born from your seed. But could you bring yourself to actually destroy it? It was, after all, technically your child.

But the alternative was to feed it humans, innocent women for it to fuck and devour. Could you sully your hands that way and become party to such ****?

You were still lost in thought when a gentle voice stirred you. “Excuse me, are you alright?”

She was beautiful, and she looked at you with genuine concern. “I’m sorry for bothering you, but you just seemed so upset.”

Looking at the girl, you felt as if the universe had offered you a horrible hint.
