CHAPTER|two

Located

Hearing Xavier say that they were headed out of the city to the main road, once you're a few steps past Wicandar's house, thin, barely visible purple streaks of light begin to zip and zap around you as you say the divine words of the fae realm, of which your deity grants you and your devtion the source of magic you are conjuring. The loose dirt and tiny pebbles around you begin to float, then in an instant, you are gone, having cast Dimension Door. You are sent, as you intended, 500ft straight into the air towards the entrance of Bimeldontedeer at a 45 degree angel. You start counting, “one - one thousand two, one thousand..” as you are free-falling from over 350 feet in the air, during which you are scanning the ground below you for any signs of where Mila might be.

“There,” you shout in your head right after your 6 count. What initially looked like a wagon being worked on, you noticed the rustling of bushes right behind it as if someone was traveling through it. You cast Blink, a spell that takes 3 seconds to cast. You blink out of this plane, just over 10 feet from the ground, and into the Ethereal Plane, and crash into and partly through the ghostly intangible ground of the Ethereal Plane.

You stay low to the ground and hidden from their sight as you slowly crawl towards the wagon. staying well over 100 feet away, you cast, sending to Mila.

A stream of invisible telpathic energy jumps between you and Mila. Thinking over your words carefully, seeing what words are unnecessary given the word limit that this spell has.

“You Ok? I’m right behind. Stay Calm. Who are they? What do they want?” You ask Mila telepathically.

“I'm good. Red Door. Hired by Redden Steel Mob, Family **** to cook, I escaped, rescued family. Sorry," she replies.

You mull over the information she gave you. You know that Red Door is a gang of thugs. Basically, bullies band together so that they can bully even more. As for the Redden Steel Mob, they are the town’s main supplier of ****. It is rumored that they are somehow connected to either one or both of the founding families, and that is why the city guards leave their **** dens and kitchens alone. Unfortunately, having only been here a little over a year, you don’t know the interwoven history of the city's underground as well as you would like to.

You remain prone and in the shadows, watching.

After a few hours, when the wagon wheel was finally “fixed,” the crowd began to thin out.

The wagon is left with just 2 Red Door thugs.
