Chapter 3 by pmanpman pmanpman

What's next?

Add some submissiveness to Morgan

Your hands hover over the neural architecture submenu, a section of the interface you've studied extensively in your career but never had the power to actually implement. The DesignSpace software presents behavioral conditioning as casually as hair color—a series of sliders and toggles under the heading 'Psychological Optimization.'

"There's something else," you say carefully, watching Morgan's face. "Something I want to add to your design."

Morgan tilts their head, those rheumy eyes still bright with excitement. "Tell me."

"Obedience conditioning. Subtle—nothing that would override your free will. But when you follow my lead, when you do what I ask..." You gesture at the interface, pulling up the relevant submenu. "The neural reward pathways would activate. Pleasure. Satisfaction. And when you resist or disobey, a mild discomfort. Not pain. Just... wrongness."

The room goes quiet. Priya's stylus pauses over her tablet.

Morgan stares at the holographic diagram showing the proposed neural modifications—dopamine release triggers linked to compliance detection, a subtle anxiety response coded to defiance. It's laid out in clinical detail, the architecture of devotion.

"You want me to want to obey you," Morgan says slowly.

"Yes."

A long pause. Then Morgan laughs—a genuine sound, tinged with something darker. "Alex, I've wanted that for thirty years. You think I don't know myself? You think I haven't wished I could just... surrender? Stop fighting every little thing?" They reach across the table, their spotted hand finding yours. "I trust you. I've always trusted you. Make it so I don't have to choose anymore. Make it feel good."

Priya clears her throat. "This modification is available in several intensities. Level one is what we call 'preference conditioning'—the subject experiences mild satisfaction when following suggestions from a designated authority. Level three involves significant neurochemical reinforcement. Some clients describe it as similar to the early stages of romantic infatuation, but directed specifically at compliance."

"What's level five?" Morgan asks.

"We don't recommend level five for romantic partnerships. That's typically reserved for professional submissives or individuals with specific lifestyle requirements."

You study the slider, currently set at zero. "What would you recommend for what we want? A strong nudge, not compulsion."

Priya considers. "Level two, perhaps level two-point-five. The subject retains full decision-making capacity but experiences genuine happiness when pleasing their designated authority. Disobedience triggers mild anxiety—comparable to the feeling of forgetting something important. Most clients report it as 'finally feeling right' rather than any sense of control."

You look at Morgan. "Your call, love. I won't add this without you choosing the level."

"Two-point-five," Morgan says immediately. "I want to feel it. I want obeying you to feel like coming home."

Your fingers move across the interface. The neural architecture diagram updates, new pathways illuminating in soft gold—reward circuits linked to compliance recognition, mild stress responses tied to resistance. You designate yourself as the sole authority figure, adding biometric locks that will prevent anyone else from triggering the conditioning.

"One more thing," you add, accessing a secondary menu. "I'm adding a physical tell. When the obedience response activates, your pupils will dilate slightly. So I'll always know."

Morgan shivers, but their smile doesn't waver. "God, Alex. You really have thought about this."

The holographic Morgan-to-be rotates slowly, now complete with its behavioral architecture. An eighteen-year-old angel with pink eyes and liquid movements, programmed to find joy in surrender. Your partner's future self, designed from the cellular level up to worship you.

"The designations are locked in now," Priya confirms. "Once the regeneration completes, the conditioning will be fully integrated. It cannot be removed without a complete neural rebuild."
