How does Mary react to this divine intervention?
She prays to the Virgin Mary
Mary dropped the pieces of wood and slumped over, finally realizing her sinful nature. After a long moment of contemplation, during which the guys waved at her and asked her if she was okay before shrugging and going to the church without her, she broke down crying, running out of the church.
Walking for a bit, she stumbled upon an icon of Madonna holding the baby Jesus and knelt down praying.
"Oh, Mary, whose name I have defiled by my being," she supplicated, "please cleanse me of my wrong and my ways."
"My child," came the answer, "enter the church and confess your sins, and thou shalt be given commandments on thy redemption."
With that, Mary entered the church and confessed her sins, telling of every lurid detail throughout her debaucherous life.
"Now go forth beyond the Jordan," came the commandments, "three loaves of bread shalt thou take with thee, and thou shalt subsist thereupon and upon whatsoever thou shalt take from the land, and thou shalt so live unto the day thou shouldst die."
And with that, Mary left the church, and headed to a monastery on the banks of the Jordan to get three loaves of bread, and crossed the Jordan by boat, and disembarked to live on the land.
