Meet the younger couple

There is no doorbell in sight, so Mea knocks on the door instead. "Hello? Anyone here?"

They wait a moment, but nothing happens. Max turns towards Mea and shrugs his shoulders. “Maybe they're not in? They're probably exploring the resort, just like we should be doing” he hinted, but before Mea can respond, the door opens.

A young woman stands before them, holding a towel to her chest. She looks a few years younger than Mea, but roughly the same height. She has a slender body, with dirty blonde hair that looks wet, and eyes the color of the Mediterreanen sea. “Sorry, I was in the shower” she explains herself. It appears she isn't wearing anything besides the towel and the bracelet around her wrists, which glows red.

Max and Mea turn to face her. “Oh, so sorry to disturb you!” Max said apologetically, “We just wanted to introduce ourselves. I'm Max, and this is my better half, Mea” he explained, “we just moved into the cabana next to yours, and wanted to say hi.”

The girl seemed to relax. “Oh! I see. That's so thoughtful of you. Don't worry about interrupting my shower, I was basically done anyway. It's nice to meet you both. I'm Vera” she says, shifting her hips as she holds out her hand.

As Max shakes her hand, he notices the bracelet on her wrist. “Did you wear that into the shower?” he asks, “isn't that dangerous?” Vera looks up at him and smiles. “No, not at all! The bracelets are waterproof. It still works perfectly. See?“ she said as she pressed a button and the light turned from red to green. Max expected her to press the button again, but either she forgot, or she liked the new setting better.

“All that stuff was explained in the informational packet they gave us when we arrived. You did read that, right?” she asks, cocking her head to a side. Mea glances nervously at Max. “Yes, of course!” Max lies enthusiastically, at the same time that Mea says “Uhm... we skimmed it. We are going to read it from cover to cover after we met the neighbors”, she explains, even though she knew both of them would rather do anything else than spend their vacation time poring over the 100+ pages of legalese that they agreed to when signing up for the resort.

“Is it just you in here?“ Mea asks, wondering how a girl that looked even younger than her could possibly afford this place. Vera shakes her head and laughs. “Oh, no! I'm staying here with my boyfriend.” she explains, “He's just out in search of food and drinks. Would you like to come in for a bit? You can meet him soon enough.” she offered.
