The Second Day -Afternoon

I bid Kate goodbye before Marshall could wake up. I think I wanted to talk with him away from his wife. I was curious how he got a version of the app with an invite. But not curious enough to stick around.

Instead I wanted to reconnect with Blair. She was another high level app user, if Eric could be believed. She might have more information to offer. Thanks to Kate I’d learned about classes, and Daily quests, plus I’d all but confirmed to myself that the app was indeed being used for some sort of sex pot scheme.

So I was off to city hall.

I sat on the salt covered steps for maybe an hour, freezing my buns off before Blair finally came out with a back pack slung over her shoulder.

“Bbbbbrar!” I chatted, lips numb.

She ignored me, no doubt thinking me a homeless person. She brushed past me and trotted down the front steps.

“Blair!”

That got her attention. She turned and squinted at me. “Sorry?”

“It’s Alice!” I said hopping over to her.

“Oh!” She chirped and pulled down her scracf her breath crystallized in the air. “Hey, I didn’t hear you were in town.”

Blair was a tall girl, I was just remembering that. Kate had seemed tall to me with her heels and attitude but Blair got that way with out the smoke and mirrors. She’d gotten a lot of her features from her Korean dad, except her freckles. She peered at me from behind thick rimmed black glasses. Those were new. Ah, the ravages of time.

“Yeah.” I said trying to skip past the new in town act. “Listen, I wanted to talk to you about Life Quest.”

“Yeah.” She started to move away. “I’d love to catch up with you, but I really gotta get somewhere. Talk to me later, you have my number right?”

“Hey!” I jogged over to her, as best I could in the snow. “I just want to ask you a few questions.”

“I really don’t have the time to talk Alice.” Then she added. “I’ve never even heard of that.”

“Eric said you had!” I noticed she was heading towards the only car in the parking lot.

“I don’t know what to tell you.”

“Come on!” I whined, and really didn’t like the sound of it in my mouth. “What class are you? You’re level 5 right?”

“I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about!” She froze, then rolled her eyes. “Aww shit, I’m not supposed to curse. Thanks a lot.” She started messing with her keys.

“Is that a quest?” I pressed.

“It’s politics baby.” She opened her door and dove inside. “Call me.” She said slamming the car door.

“I don’t have your number anymore!” I shouted through the window.

“I call you!” She mouthed before peeling out of the parking lot.

Well that was productive…

I checked my phone to see if I had at least checked her off my list.

Blair (0/1)

“Fuck.” I ran after the car shaking my phone over my head. “I don’t have running water you bitch!”

Then of course I slipped on the ice and landed on my back.
