Cool, Calm & Corrupted
The thrumming of the Grove returned—a low, pulsing hum that rolled through the stone beneath our feet, soft but undeniable. The silence that had blanketed the grotto gave way to the rhythm of the reborn Grove. The violet glow along the roots brightened, spreading through the walls in lazy waves that cast the chamber in shifting shades of purple and rose.
Kagha stirred. Her eyes opened slowly, emerald irises catching the glow and reflecting it back with unnatural brilliance. She rose slowly with feline grace, as if savouring every little movement. The corruption’s rhythm beat inside her now, through her veins and through her mind, yet she wasn’t afraid.
When she spoke, her voice was quiet and peaceful. “You—you planted your own seed in me. You claimed me.” She pressed a hand to her chest, steady and sure. “The Grove belongs to Graz’zt, but I belong to you.” Her eyes softened as she exhaled. “It’s… peaceful, in a way. Comforting. I know I can’t betray you, but I also know I'll never be alone again. As your power grows, so will mine. That’s how it feels.”

She frowned slightly, as though trying to parse her own thoughts. “I don’t feel any of the old magic anymore. The power I sense now is strange—sweet, dangerous, like sap turned to wine. It doesn’t feel ready somehow, but it whispers to me.” She tilted her head, smiling faintly. Her eyes flicked up, meeting mine with a sparkle of wicked understanding. “But it doesn’t matter. You’ll lead me there anyway. I’ll grow into whatever this new power wants me to be. I can help you—plan for you, fight for you, destroy for y—” She caught herself mid-sentence, biting her lip as color rushed to her cheeks. “I never thought I’d feel this… hunger for anyone,” she murmured, voice low and reverent.
I let the silence linger. She stood there, serene and certain, her usual sharpness replaced by a still, unwavering calm. Kagha had always adapted, and this was no different, at least not to her.
I took a breath and finally said, “Then we’d better move. I think we need to check what kind of chaos we’ve caused.”
Together, we left the grotto. The air outside felt warmer, charged with unrefined energy, unlike the cool dampness from before. As we climbed the carved wood steps leading back into the sanctum, the sound of voices grew louder. The druids were gathered in disarray, their faces pale and confused. Their connection to the Oak Father was gone, replaced by the uneasy hum of alien power.
One druid pointed at Kagha, his voice trembling. “Traitor! You brought a hag into our sanctum! I saw her leave—filthy, vile, her stench still clings to the roots. You’ve defiled the core of Sylvanus and let corruption crawl where life once bloomed!” Others murmured in agreement, though their voices carried no authority. Their magic was gone—they could feel it too.
Kagha met their accusations with a calm so sharp it silenced half the room. “You speak as if your prayers still matter,” she said coolly. “The Grove has evolved, I suggest you adapt.”
The words rippled through the sanctum like a spark through dry grass. Several druids shouted for her exile, but it was empty sound—ritual without conviction. They were powerless, disoriented, clinging to faith that had abandoned them.
"Enough!" I snapped, my voice hard and steady. "The goblins will be at our gates by morning—there is no time for infighting. Those of you who want to fight, stand with me. The rest, get out of our way."
They hesitated, uncertain, murmuring among themselves. I could see doubt flickering across their faces. A few druids advanced toward us, gripping gnarly clubs, their features twisted with grief and fury. I steadied my stance and raised my hands, two bolts of crackling pink energy surged from my palms, colliding with the stone floor in front of the nearest group. The shockwave rattled the walls. Lightning charges arced along my staff, feeding into the runes etched into my jolty vest. The lines lit up, glowing bright teal, veins of power running across the leather until it hummed like a living storm. I fired again—two more bolts, searing the ground near another group. The stored energy lashing out in a full lightning strike that split the air with a deafening crack. The flash illuminated the entire sanctum, casting the druids in sharp relief, their terrified eyes glowing white in the flare.
“You sure you wanna try that?” I said, voice low but cutting through the ringing air. “Without your magic, without your god? You’ll need more than wooden sticks and trembling hands.”
The druids froze, their anger dissolving into silence. Fear, awe—maybe a touch of recognition that this was no fight they could win. A few slunk away, muttering prayers that went unanswered. Others turned towards the Idol outside, whispering **** invocations that fell flat against the humming, corrupted air.
Kagha stood beside me, her eyes bright with a strange pride. “You handled that well,” she said softly. “They’ll know better than to test you again—if not from faith, then from fear.”
They talked among themselves for several long minutes, their whispers rising and falling as they argued uncertainly, no one willing to make the first move.
When they finally declared Kagha banished, it was a hollow decree, heavy with defeat. She didn’t protest. She only looked to me, that serene, dangerous smile. “Let them,” she murmured. “I’ve already found my place.”
Some of the druids who had once shouted against us lingered at the exit of the sanctum. After a long pause, a few of them decided that they’d rather fight than mourn—they exchanged looks, then stepped forward to join us, silent but resolute. As we stepped into the open air, the Grove’s thrumming grew stronger near the Idol of Sylvanus, a handful of druids already knelt in worship—but not to the Oak Father. The violet light spilled from the roots like veins, and their eyes reflected it, glazed and lustful. They smiled as we passed, whispering blessings to “the new Grove” and waving to Kagha with reverence. Graz’zt’s corruption had taken root, and it was already blossoming.
At the edge of the circle a few of the surviving druids who had once followed the Shadow Druids’ creed in secret, watched us go with knowing smiles, their devotion already twisted by the same influence that had claimed Kagha. They turned toward the Idol, bowing their heads as the violet glow washed over them, their chants a warped echo of old prayers.
Kagha paused to watch them, her expression almost wistful. “They see it too,” she said softly. “It’s already begun.”
I nodded once. “Without the magic of the druids we are at a disadvantage. This fight just got a whole lot harder.”
She smiled triumphant, eyes gleaming beneath the amethyst light. “I’m not afraid. Not anymore. Whatever comes, I’ll rise or fall with you.”
I was starting to like this new Kagha.
Hi Everyone !
Please give a warm welcome to the newest member of camp, corrupted Kagha. Isn't she just delightful?
I have remade every Character Stats chapter so they follow a new day, instead of every 10 chapters. Hopefully this way feels more natural, sorta like MC checking his stats in the morning.
Additionally have also uploaded the different stages of corruption for each girl so you can see the gradual changes, as well as found a new Image hosting website, let me know if you find any issues.
AND I have also linked special items to the BG3 Wiki so you can have a look at how the items work mechanically/visually.
