Chapter 19 by fantaghiro

What's next?

Tom's week

The week that followed blurred together in a strange mixture of anticipation and discovery. Tom woke up Monday morning still processing what had happened with Sarah, but as he went through his morning routine, he found himself settling into this new reality with surprising ease.

His job at the marketing firm remained unchanged—same desk, same coworkers, same projects. But the enhanced photography skills that had come with his transformed life made everything more interesting. During lunch breaks, he found himself reviewing technique videos and planning shoots, energized by a passion that had been dormant for years in his married life.

Tuesday evening brought his first client of the week—a young couple wanting engagement photos. Tom found himself working with a confidence and artistic eye that surprised him. The shots were striking, professional, and the couple's enthusiasm reminded him why he'd fallen in love with photography in the first place.

But it was the messages from Sarah that made his pulse quicken throughout each day.

*Monday morning: "Uncle Tom! Mom made pancakes and I thought of our convo about your photography making me hungry for more! "*

The attached selfie showed her at the breakfast table in a tank top, leaning forward just enough to hint at her cleavage while maintaining perfect innocence.

*Tuesday afternoon: "Cheer practice was sooo hard today! Had to stretch extra long after."*

This time she'd sent a mirror selfie from the locker room, her cheerleader uniform clinging to her sweat-dampened body, one leg extended up against the wall in a flexibility pose that made Tom's imagination run wild.

*Wednesday evening: "Trying on dresses for homecoming! Can't decide which one shows off my best features "*

The photo showed her in what appeared to be a form-fitting red dress, the mirror capturing her from behind as she looked over her shoulder, the dress hugging every curve of her eighteen-year-old body.

Wednesday night also brought an unexpected development—a date with Lisa, a woman from his photography class who apparently he'd been seeing casually in this new timeline. The dinner was pleasant, comfortable in a way that suggested they'd been dating for months. Lisa was attractive, intelligent, and clearly interested in something more serious.

"You seem distracted tonight," Lisa observed over dessert, her hand covering his across the table.

"Just thinking about a project," Tom replied, which was technically true. Sarah's homecoming photo session was definitely a project occupying his thoughts.

"Work or photography?" Lisa asked with a knowing smile.

"Photography. A challenging assignment coming up this weekend."

Lisa leaned closer, her voice dropping to a more intimate tone. "Maybe I could help you practice some techniques? I've been thinking about doing some more... artistic shots myself."

The offer was tempting, especially given how physically frustrated he'd been since Saturday. But the memory of Sarah's body against his, her whispered promises about the homecoming dress session, made it impossible to focus on anyone else.

"Rain check?" Tom suggested. "This weekend is pretty booked."

Thursday brought another client—headshots for a local actor—and another message from Sarah.

*"OMG Uncle Tom! You should see how the other girls look at me in this dress! I feel so grown up and sophisticated. Can't wait for our shoot! "*

The selfie showed her in what must be the chosen homecoming dress—an elegant black number that was conservative enough for a school dance but hugged her body in ways that made Tom's breath catch. The neckline was modest but revealed just enough to be tantalizing, and the way it clung to her waist before flaring slightly at the hips was absolutely stunning.

Friday's message arrived during his lunch break: *"Tomorrow can't come fast enough! I've been practicing poses in the mirror all week. Mom says I can stay as long as we need to get the perfect shots. Lucky me has such a dedicated uncle! "*

The attached photo showed her reflection in her bedroom mirror, the black dress on a hanger behind her while she wore only a lacy bra and panties, as if she'd been trying on the outfit. The image was carefully composed to look accidental, but Tom could see his wife's sophisticated understanding of angles and lighting in every detail.

By Friday evening, Tom found himself cleaning his apartment and checking his camera equipment multiple times, his anticipation building to an almost unbearable level. The week had shown him that this new life had its own pleasures—his photography work was thriving, he had social connections he'd never experienced in his marriage, and the constant teasing messages from Sarah kept him in a state of aroused anticipation that made everything more vivid.

But underneath it all, he missed the deeper connection he'd had with his wife. These glimpses of her in Sarah's teenage form were intoxicating but incomplete. Tomorrow's session promised to bridge that gap in ways that made his hands shake as he set up his equipment for what was sure to be their most dangerous encounter yet.

The coin sat in his bedside drawer, warm to the touch whenever he checked on it, as if it too was anticipating what Saturday would bring.
