a CRISPR adventure

You stand there, looking into the mirror. Looking back is a young man, a junior in college. Kyle Perkins is your name and you’ve got an average set of looks and a lean physique from playing varsity ball back in high-school. Your doing well in your major, but your academic accomplishments pale in comparison to your best and oldest friend, Tom. Tom is a certified genius, and he has chosen to better the world with his gift by pursuing science and biology.

The only other person who matters more to you in Life is your Girlfriend, Shawna Brown. Shawna is out of your league, and sometimes you can’t believe how lucky you are to have landed her. She does have a mean streak that occasionally surfaces, and one of your favorite things about her is that she knows what she wants, and goes after it.

You look away from the mirror and back down at your phone. Its a text from Tom. “I’ve got something incredible here man! Come check it out!” your vulcan-esque friend isn’t usually so animated. You feel a knot in your stomach, but you figure this is important, so you grab your coat and head to the lab.
