Chapter 27 by Vain Vain

Back to the kitchen again...?

In wait for the food

It was a little while later, and the teenagers had all spread out in groups throughout the cabin in wait for the food. Though there was an actual table and several chairs just next to the kitchen, it seemed like nobody choose to use them over their beds or just standing on their own feet.

Thus Heather was on her own with Kurt again, and quite happily bossing him around to finish the dinner without her doing much of the actual work at all. If the food turned out to be just barely eatable as a result of it, she could always give him all the blame.

In her head she went back several times to her quick encounter with Ashley however, and she got more convinced the more she thought about it that the other girl must have seen her and Brandon in the lake at some point.

That also brought back a few other memories however, and she would find herself smiling every now and then at he thought of Brandon's strong hands or his rock hard dick pressed against her naked skin. She'd really enjoyed that, perhaps more than she should have, and she hated to let the question bother her so much whether Ashley knew about it or not. Nothing had actually happened after all, even if she'd sometimes wished that it did...

Meanwhile she felt her cousin glaring at her every now and then while grimly following her orders, and she wondered briefly what was moving around inside his simple little brain. Perhaps if she'd known about his business with Ashley she wouldn't have looked down at him in quite the same way, even if he'd certainly been a lot more deserving of her spite.

At the other side of the hallway, Chloe was starting to feel sleepy while listening to Zack and Brandon as they kept talking about nothing in particular. She'd noticed Vicky sneaking away though, but didn't pay it much attention. If the other girl was truly so unconcerned about Zack as she appeared, then there was nothing really worth to be fighting for anymore.

It was a little difficult to get to terms with, but the more she thought about it, the more she seemed to realize that her vouching for Zack and Vicky as a couple had been a quite major part of her life over the past year or so. If she hadn't been doing it, then it was highly likely she'd never started thinking of Zack as anything but her best friend.

Now she'd seen a different side of him however, and she wondered what it'd be like to be in the center of his attention. She'd been suppressing her own envy towards Victoria for so long that she'd never really thought about it, and now that she was suddenly left without a clear goal in front of her she found all those other feelings starting to surface.

She loved Zack, more than she'd likely ever be willing to admit, but still she'd always failed to see those feelings for what they actually were...

It made quite a mess inside her head - and one she'd prefer not to stir in even with a five foot ladle...

After a few failed attempts to make contact with Ashley, Victoria finally gave up on her in favor of searching information from other sources. Only two actually occurred to her however, and one she wouldn't try to question even if there was a huge sign with the word 'Guilty' pointed directly to his smirking face...

That left her with only one, and she found him sitting quietly on the single bench by the cabin's west wall.

"Hi Gavin..." She greeted him insecurely, as she rarely ever spoke to him alone, and never with an actual purpose other than just being friendly. "How are you...?"

"Just fine." He replied, in an uncharacteristically gloomy voice. It seemed like he realized this by himself though, and at least made an attempt to sound just a little more cheerful. "And what about you?"

"I'm... just worried about Ashley." She confessed, and surprising herself with such a direct approach to her problem. "She didn't... seem like herself today..."

"Mmm-hmm...?" He nodded slowly, which gave her a hint she'd been asking the right person after all. He must be knowing something at least, or he wouldn't have bothered to make it sound like he didn't even care. It proved difficult to get anything out of him though, and she was eventually left with even more questions than she had when she found him.

"What about it...?" He returned at her, and sounding quite defensive when she tried asking what he and Ash had been talking about in his room. But then he just sighed and tried to apologize, before getting up on his feet. "I guess she just wanted to be alone for a while."

"But... why did she go to you then?" Vicky insisted, and put herself in his way when he attempted to leave. Somehow she misjudged the distance between them however, and they were equally startled by her hand brushing up against the side of his thigh when they stood up together.

There was a moment of shocked silence, and then he was the first one to cautiously break away. In the cover of darkness they couldn't see each other blushing, though they both could guess it must be noticeable in their voices.

"I'm sorry..." Gavin mumbled eventually, and carefully circled away from her. "I can't really help you on this one..."

"I'm sorry too." She nodded quickly, before allowing him to leave. Then she waited another few minutes, before daring to go back into the cabin again. Some other misunderstandings considered, even Vicky could see a good reason to keep from being seen all red and flustered while side by side with one of the guys. Worst of all though, she wasn't even sure why she was overreacting like that in first place...

What's next then...?
