What's next?
Date With Lena
“Okay, but I’m loving this new style.” I interject, and Mia turns to look at me, giggling as she sees me. I turn back, smiling. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been experimenting with different styles, and I’ve found one I really like. Paige tells me that it’s called “pastel goth”, and I’m really liking it. It’s a mixture of pink, purple and black colours, with elements of gothic, egirl and lolita style fashion.
I’ve even changed my hair colour to a hot pink to better fit the new style. The result is that I can lean into any of the three elements and look incredible. The fact that I can change my hair colour means even more versatility with outfits, being able to mix and match different colours depending on how I feel.
The result currently is a pink and black plaid skirt, fishnet stockings and gloves, calf high black boots, and a pink and black top, with a choker to match. This might just be a coffee date, but as Mia said at one point, there’s no such thing as overdressing, only people who don’t like to express themselves.
Following that logic, I got Paige to help me do a minimalist goth makeup look, with some pink eyeshadow. My supernaturally steady hands and instinctive understanding of colour theory helps me a lot in picking up skill in makeup. I have a lot to learn, but I’m doing pretty well so far, so my girlfriends say. Magical makeup supplies are really cool too, not having to worry about lipstick transfer from kissing is really nice.
“You pull it off really well babe.” Mia says. “Thank you! You’re looking pretty good yourself.” I compliment. The aeromancer grins at that. “I’ve been feeling more futchy lately.” She replies. “What’s that mean?” Paige asks. “Femme-butch. It’s a mixture of femme and butch lesbian aesthetics.” Mia explains and Paige nods.
Mia’s makeup is simply done and absolutely beautiful. Eyeliner, some mascara, a bit of blush and lip gloss. With the magical flowing through our veins purging our skin of imperfections, foundation and concealer are a distant memory. Her wavy hair is let out, running wild like usual. Mia clicks her tongue, as she looks at herself in the mirror. “I really want a wolf cut.” She says.
She’s wearing a white button up blouse that sits loosely on her. She wears it with the top couple of buttons undone, leaving some of her upper chest exposed. The blouse is tucked into a pair of blue jeans, pulled up high around her waist, a belt in place to secure the pants and show off her body shape. The look and styling is fairly simple, but she looks incredible for it.
“You should get one.” I say as I finish brushing my hair. “Ya think? I’d look hot.” Mia says sarcastically and I giggle. “You already look hot.” I reply, walking over to her and putting my arms around her. “Gonna give your hot girlfriend a kiss for luck?” She asks. I kiss her deeply, breathing in her strawberry scent and tasting her gorgeous lips.
“Ready to go?” I ask as we separate. She nods, smiling. “I am now.” We walk downstairs, our girlfriends wishing us luck with our date. To this day, I don’t know why we walk outside whenever we exit the Kingdom barrier. We don’t technically need to, the spell works from inside the palace. I guess it’s just a habit at this point.
Exiting the Fateweaver barrier, we quickly scan the area for any potential threats. Satisfied that there aren’t any gang members around, we walk to the cafe Mia picked out, which is pretty close by. We hold hands as we do, swinging our arms cheerily. I have a smile on my face, so of course, Mia decides to tease me.
“Isn’t this technically the first time we’ve been on an actual date before? And it’s with a girl who we aren’t even dating?” She teases, and I groan. “Don’t remind me, I know we need to go out more.” My girlfriend giggles sadistically. “Two months and four other girlfriends later, we’re finally going out on a first date.”
I shake my head. “I’m sorry! I promise we’ll go on more dates in future.” I relent and Mia grins victoriously. “Yes! Good girl Gem.” She praises, and I blush. “I hate how much power you have over me.” I complain. “No you don’t.” Mia says, without looking at me. “No, I don’t.” She raises my hand and kisses the back of it. I reciprocate the gesture, and we smile at each other.
The sign for the cafe, Oliver Brown, comes into view and we enter the little place. It’s cute, one of those cafes with a wall covered with a hedge, and lit up a sign in the middle saying “Eat, Sleep, Dessert, Repeat”. Lights with a warm hue hang down from the ceiling, bright enough so that patrons can see without being bright enough to overwhelm.
I scan the place, noting that there’s no sign of Lena yet. It’s 11:55 and we agreed to meet at 12, so Mia and I are early. We walk to the front counter and take a table number sign. “Inside or outside?” I ask. “Outside. There’s shade and the fresh air is nice.” Mia replies. Nodding, I follow her as we take a table for four on the outside of the cafe. We sit on one side, leaving the other side open for Lena.
Opening the menu, I look through what they have here. I know some locations of this cafe chain have a full kitchen and food menu, while some only have the cafe part. This particular location only has the cafe part. Looking through the menu is pointless, since I googled it yesterday and know exactly what I’m going to get, but I do it anyway to see if I’ve missed anything.
I sense a presence in front of us, and I look up from the menu to see that Lena has just arrived. She takes my breath away with what she’s chosen to wear. She seems to have followed the same philosophy as me in that there’s no such thing as overdressing.
With that in mind, she’s decided to go with a beautiful off the shoulder red dress, which fits her tightly and perfectly. I’d expect nothing less of abyssal clothing, but my god she looks stunning. The fit of the dress accentuates her cleavage to a drool worthy level. I count myself lucky that I have better control of myself than that.
The styling of the dress also has a slit up one side, showing an almost scandalous amount of leg and thigh. The tight fitting fabric leaves little to the imagination. She’s accessorised the outfit with a gorgeous silver necklace and matching and matching earrings.
She wears a beautiful combination of a red lipstick and silver eyeshadow, and it matches perfectly with the dress. Completing the look, she wears a pair of black sandal heels. All coordinated to look as beautiful, sexy and alluring as possible, and damn if it isn’t working. My jaw damn near drops to the floor at the sight of her.
I glance towards Mia, and I can see that she’s having a similar reaction to me, although unlike me, her reaction is completely unrestrained, and her mouth hangs open slightly. I turn back to Lena to see her smirking at both our reactions. “I guess y’all like my outfit then.” She says casually. I nod, recovering quickly, mostly due to my high charisma level.
“How could we not? It’s a gorgeous outfit and you somehow manage to make it look even better.” I flirt, standing up to greet her. She eagerly reciprocates the hug I offer. “It’s so good to see you, and Gaia you look incredible!” I compliment. “It’s good to see y’all too! You look amazing, holy shit. Really just wanna eat you both up.” She flirts, about as subtle as a sledgehammer.
Mia laughs at that, standing up to give Lena a hug in turn. “Let’s see what happens.” She deflects, trying to add some sense of rationality to the sparks flying between us on a physical level. “Absolutely, can’t have dessert first.” Lena agrees, and Mia and I return to our seats, Lena pulling out a chair to sit opposite us.
“How do you order from this place?” Lena asks us. I point out the QR code stuck to the table. “Just use that, it saves from having to talk to people.” I say, grinning to show that I’m joking. “Works for me. And I guess they d-oliver it to us here?” She asks, visibly holding back from laughing.
Her sentence makes me pause for a second to untangle what’s wrong with it. “That was horrible.” Mia giggles, and Lena cackles. “Oh come on, that was the best I could do quickly!” She complains. “Yeah, and it was terrible!” Mia shoots back. I can already tell that the two of them are going to get along like a house on fire.
We order on our phones. I get a mint hot chocolate and some banana bread, Mia orders a strawberry milkshake and a muffin, and Lena, after some pondering, orders a regular hot chocolate. While we wait for our food to arrive, Lena’s expression turns a little more serious. “So tell me about y’all. What’s ya deal? Why’d ya invite me out like this?” She asks. Mia looks at me to explain.
