January Week 2: Friday-Leah agrees to meet Mr. Howard after school.

Leah knew she needed to go see Mr. Howard—he was the one who would be the key to tenure after all. She sent him a quick email back confirming she would be there when the school day was over.

The final bell rung and Leah took a deep breath before heading toward the front office. Amber was leaving the front office and waved Mr. Howard goodbye before turning to Leah who was entering the front office suite.

“OH hey Leah! TGIF!” she sighed with relief now that she was able to head home.

“Absolutely. Been a long week.” Leah said trying to smile.

“Sticking around for a bit?” Amber asked puzzled.

“Just popping in for something real quick". I’ll shut off all the lights and everything Amber.” Mr. Howard interjected.

“Well enjoy! I am locking the main door so don’t forget your keys.” she said as she began to leave.

“Have a great weekend!” Mr. Howard said with a smile so innocent that couldn’t have melted butter.

Mr. Howard welcomed Leah inside his office.

“Glad you could stay. It certainly shows a commitment to tenure I must admit.” He said as he locked his office door. Two layers of security this time. He knew he couldn’t be too careful.

“Well…anything for the Cougars and PPHS!” Leah said her eyes and voice in mock excitement.

“Everyone is leaving for the day.” Mr. Howard said with a slow grin. “Means we have plenty of time to enjoy ourselves—don’t we?” Mr. Howard paused, waiting to see how Leah would react.
