Chapter 240
by
The Other Guy
Does anything happen to delay you leaving?
No but the issue of Delilah needs addressing
When you get back to the house keeping an eye on Delilah. More accurately you looked at their legs still expecting to see a trail running down. Eve had said she'd made their clothes to keep you inside to make Delilah happy. Delilah had blushed madly but didn't say anything to counteract. At the house you didn't find your dad or Summer downstairs and think better than to go looking for them upstairs. Delilah tries to make a beeline for the kitchen but you stop them. "Already cleaned it out remember."
"Oh." Eve sounded disappointed. "Guess you'll have to give us of your meat then?" Eve winked with half of their face as Delilah look deeply embarrassed with the other half.
"I would like to but if we start I won't get to the capital until dark." You said trying to not reconsider that decision already.
"Oh right." Delilah looked sad. "Is there an inn on why. We could stop by and have something to eat before we get there." Eve said with a smile marching out the front door.
"Huh?" You questioned being left behind as the door closes behind her. You recovered and hurried after her. "Wait what?"
As soon as you opened the door you stopped dead in your tracks. Delilah was facing away from you and from her back were two massive red scaled wings. Each on easily twice your height. "You studied birds right." Eve said as her wings flapped. "I could never get the feathers right but dragons were way easier." She turned around and stretched out a wing. "See just big scoops." You blinked a few times as she flexed the wing around. "A-are you sure you can fly?" Delilah asked very nervously. "Don't worry I won't let you get hurt. And Christopher can catch us if he has too." Eve said confidently then gave you an expectant look.
It took a second before it clicked she was waiting for your wings. You created them then felt a bit self-conscious as she examined them very closely. "I've never seen a dragon." Compared to her wings yours a small and look kinda unimpressive.
"Don't, they're lumps of muscle and magic powered by a brain the side of fist. Took years to get close enough to one to figure out how they fly." Eve said with a nostalgic tint in her voice. "I had so much hair burned off." Not exactly the happy memory you thought nostalgia would give her. "We going?" Her wings beat expectantly and you felt a wave of hot air blow over your face.
You looked at the magic on her wings and smiled. "Oh you heat the underside of the wings to use hot air to give yourself lift. That is brilliant."
She looked at her wings then at you. "That took me a year and about eight eyebrows to figure out. Damn right I am." Eve had a wide smile on her face that sudden became worried. "You promise you won't crash?" Delilah asked looking at the massive wing on her right. The wings folded over to hug her. "Don't worry I'll always keep you safe." Eve said motherly. "Now shall we?" She offered her hand and you blinked a few times.
"Oh right. Sure." You took her hand and walked into the middle of the courtyard.
"Christopher!" Your father shouted from the front door. He was flushed and was still tying his pants up. "Did think you could fly off without..." he trailed off when he looked at Delilah for a moment before looking back, "saying goodbye. And I take it you've decided to go with him." He said to Delilah walking into the courtyard.
You looked at her and her still out wings. Apparently the thing that keeping everyone from noticing her changed appearance also applied to this. "I thought you and Summer might be, ah, you know." You stopped yourself from finishing that comment as Summer had just appeared in the door way pulling her top into position.
"Delilah." Summer said walking over to her. "If you insist on going here." She held out a small pouch that Delilah took from her. "I've taken the cost of all the food you ate today out already." Delilah bashfully put the pouch in a pocket that appeared.
She mumbled a, "Sorry." Before Eve took over. "And yes we are going with {first_name_M."
Summer looked at them for a moment, surprised at the sudden confidence from them, but it didn't last long enough. "Christopher thank for visiting and," she looked at your father and tried to hide a smile, "thank you." You aren't sure you can take credit for your mother letter but aren't going to contest that issue.
"Promise to visit again soon." You say with a smile then hug your dad goodbye. "Thanks for having me."
"This is your home." He said with a proud smile. "And you are always welcome. Now you two head off, you know I don't like you flying at night."
"Dad that was one time?" You complained and looked at Delilah embarrassed.
"You did destroy a dozen trees." Delilah said with a half covered smile. "We aren't going to. Shhhhh." Delilah started before Eve soothed her. A steadying breath and she straightened her back. "Ok let's do this." Her wings unfurled and extended to their full size. Standing next to hers you felt a little inadequate. Starting your magical jet you took off, shooting into the sky up to your soaring height in a few seconds and shifted into your passive wings. You looked to where Delilah should have been but she wasn't there.
Looking down you saw her rising up much slower than you had. When she was at your height you gave her a head tilt in question. "You burn through a lot of magic." Eve said. Her wings were out and you saw the real trick to them. You had to completely change your wings to hover, her wings stretched becoming massive scoops that their produced heat kept airborne.
"Never been a problem." You said with a smile.
She looked at you then looked down and you saw an expression you'd figured out was Eve's horny face. "How long can you stay like that? NO PLEASE!" Delilah shouted as the wings suddenly shifted and it took Eve a second to recover. "Ok, no worries, you're safe." Eve said stroking her shoulders affectionately. "Which way?"
You point and started to fly. Eve stayed at your side and you felt the slight differences in the air from having someone fly next to you. It made you smile. Having company where you had always been alone was kinda nice. She smiled at you clearly sharing the feeling.
As you flew you built up speed. Eve kept pace with you but when she dropped behind you slowed down. The two of you stayed together, occasionally you or her would loop over the other with massive grins on your faces but you stopped when Delilah gave a horrified expression.
When started flying over the forest proper Eve paid less attention to you. Her eyes were scanning and you remembered being worried about her dragging an animal carcass home one day. She didn't dive bomb anything thankfully. When the inn came into view she perked up and flew near you. She opened her mouth then shut it and waved for you to stop.
You came to a halt faster than she did so you had to fly over to her. "Lot of magic but lots of control." Eve said studying your wings for a moment before pointing down. "We're hungry, do you know if that's an inn?" Well that explains why she was scanning the forest, which is also a bit worrying.
"Yeah they do." You answered hoping to avoid any possible animal ****. Eve grinned and her wing scoops flattened a little. "Delilah said no to a fast drop." She explained as she started making lazy circles down. You joined the float downwards. Unlike the flight where you were both horizontal now you were both upright. She drifted closer and took your hand. "Thank you for all of this." Eve said with a smile. "I never thought I'd get to do, anything every again. I thought I would be trapped in all my pain forever." She kissed your lips softly. "I don't want to stay in one place for long every again. But if you ask we'll stay with you."
You smiled at her and gave her your own kiss. "You don't have to stay with me. No matter where the two of you go, I'll always be ready for you to come back. And," you hesitate, the full details of who you are and who Clare is push at your tongue but just can't quite get them out, "when we get to the capital I have something, important to tell you."
Eve blinked at you once then shook her head. "You know how to worry girls."
You finished your decent touching down on the road out of sight of the inn and walk over to it. Hopefully the inn keeper won't be upset about you not bringing the basket back.

Reborn into Calitian
You are reborn into another world of magic and fantasy. How you live is your choice, the consequences are as well.
The world of Calitian is a world of magic whose sentient inhabitants vary from human to decidedly not. You are rather unexpectedly reborn into this world however you do not get the expected god delivered spiel about said rebirth so you are on your own. This should be interesting.
