Let Cardin think he's winning!

"...I assume you want something for your silence?" Jaune asked Cardin flatly once Pyrrha stood down.

Cardin smirked maliciously. "As a matter of fact, I do," he told Jaune. "I ended up getting a remedial essay from Oobleck about Faunus history." He rolled his eyes. "However, I have no time for that shit, so you can do it for me. That will do to buy my silence... for starters at least."

Pyrrha was about to tell Cardin to get bent, but Jaune simply nodded. "Alright, fair enough proposal," he replied. Pyrrha looked at Jaune like he was crazy as Cardin grinned.

"Excellent. I knew you'd see things my way," he replied, and turned to walk away. Jaune gave a devious smirk as Cardin left, full of smug.

"Okay, what are you planning?" Pyrrha asked Jaune the moment she was sure Cardin was out of earshot. "You know Professor Ozpin is already aware of what he's trying to **** you with, so it's pretty pointless... You don't have to play that asshole's game."

"You're right. Which is why I'm not playing his game," Jaune replied. "Instead, he and I are playing mine without him even knowing it." Pyrrha looked confused, before Jaune clarified, "I mean, first of all, I imagine Cardin wouldn't go straight to Professor Ozpin, given Ms. Goodwitch is easier to find. Which of course means that Ozpin will end up having to explain the transcripts thing to her somehow or another once he does. I'd like to be able to give him a heads up about that at least, so letting Cardin think I'm doing what he wants will ensure I have enough time to do so. And also, given that he thinks I'll be doing that essay for him, which I won't be, he won't be doing it either, thinking it's coverred. So, when he comes to collect, only to find I did diddly squat for him, he'll have nothing to turn in, which he will then get to explain to Professor Oobleck. In short, I'm letting him think he's winning, only for him to find himself in a hole by the time this is over..."

Pyrrha looked at Jaune for several moments as she processed how easily Jaune was going to screw Cardin over, or rather, let Cardin screw himself over, without even having to lift a finger. She then grabbed his arm and started dragging him to the dorm. "Now we're DEFINITELY going back to the dorm for some fun, you just turned me on something fierce," she told him with a sultry smirk, and with a surprised chuckle, he followed along.
