Chapter 3

Who was the other occupant?
Levi’s bisexual best friend, Dave.
“Oh, right.” The doctor said, tapping the clipboard. “Some kid named Dave was with you.”
Levi whimpered.
“He’s fine, relatively speaking.” The doctor shrugged. “He’s alive, anyway.”
Levi sighed with relief.
“Sort of.”
Levi remained quiet, expecting to hear that he was in a coma or became a vegetable.
“The drunk driver wasn’t going to make it. Brain aneurism, I think. They were pretty much dead when we brought them in, but their body was still good.”
Levi’s silence held firm.
“So I personally performed an operation that only I could’ve performed.” He said, sounding proud of himself, the only emotion Levi had heard in this strange doctor’s voice. “I took your friend’s brain out and slapped it into the drunk that almost killed you guys.”
“W-What?” Levi managed to say, forcing himself to speak through the pain to get some clarification. “H-How d-d-did…?”
“Don’t worry about it.” The doctor said, dismissing him with a wave. “Anything is possible when you’ve got the tools to make it work.”
Levi sighed, convinced that this was just some pain-induced fever dream.
“That’s mostly why I’m not sharing the morphine.” He said with a weary sigh. “I had to use up my emergency vial of nanites just to make sure nobody would notice that nasty head scar I left on your friend’s new body.”
A vision of Dave being rebuilt as the Frankenstein Monster flashed through Levi’s throbbing head.
“I had a little bit left over and shot them into you, so you’ll be up and around again in no time.” The doctor said. “I left the remote to control them with your buddy.”
Control?
“Anyway, I should probably get going before…” Looking at the chart, the doctor paused. “Hang on, this is weird.”
Who was the drunk driver?
The Ultimate Transplant
Someone you know is given a new body & life
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
