An Interrogation

You saw the mod from before sitting a waiting for you with a bag on a table, and a very annoyed frown on his face.

Seeing you sit down, he came over and told you "Lots went down last night, but I don't think you were involved in any of it. Your knowledge might help with some questions it raised."

Curious you ask "What happened?"

"A Dhampir was being hunted as part of an Event, and it roped in an unofficial guild of Players who were overpowered even by our standards. He not only survived the night, but a Hag managed to curse them, so the Players felt all the harm they did in this world, apart from fair combat."

You nod at that. "Vengeance curse. Pretty basic in calling on Justice for them, which supposedly fuels Paladins as well. Hags have more options and can call on many things at once. She's probably been preparing something like that for a while. Nothing too odd there."

The Mod shook his head. "She's been investigated already. No, the problem is the leader of the guild. The account belonged to someone using the name 'Mortlator' who"

You cut him off "Mortlator? He's still around?"

The mod was surprised. "You know him?"

You seem eager "Know him? I TRAINED him during the beta world. In fact, he was one of the first people brought in for the testing. This was before everything was released to everyone and the Gods were working out the bugs.

"Back then the classes only went up to level 10, so I taught him how to multiclass and the advantages of it. Imagine a Fighters Action Surge, a Rouge's Sneak Attack, a Monk's Flurry of Blows AND a mage able to cast a spell encasing their fists in flame!"

There was confusion at that, so you explain "Action surge would allow Fighters in combat to attack twice as fast for a moment, but only with limited uses between rests. Flurry of Blows allowed the monk to launch about 5 attacks in the time it would take others to throw a punch. Sneak attack meant if the rouge took an enemy by surprise, they would inflict extra damage. There was also a spell that would encase a mage's hand in fire, letting each punch deal fire damage on top of the normal punching damage. All low level abilities for their Classes, but combined are very dangerous."

You sighed. "Of course, you had to earn the levels in the normal levelling progression. Most people aren't willing to try wasting a level on a new Class. Well, unless they milk the old one for everything they can."

There was stunned silence.

The Mod frowned " . . . That actually explains a bit, but not everything. He managed to get classes and levels he should not have managed to, like a Class only for a special Event that only lasted 4 hours, where he would not have managed to get even one level, but he had 5 levels in it."

You are stunned "What the fuck? That doesn't make sense?"

The mod poured out some things on the table before you "We found these things in his stuff that we can't identify. Maybe you can help and find some answers for us."
