He's read tragic stories of families tearing themselves apart because someone got infected with FEMD and they refused to accept the changes that came with it. The idea of Charles ruining his relationship with his son out of stubbornness shook him to his core. He worked so hard to be a loving father to his son, and he'd be damned if he threw all of that away just because he was uncomfortable with what was happening.

So Charles would continue to be Marcie's father, no matter how difficult things get. And things were going to get very difficult.
