What's next?

Go to the police station

A new day has come as you woke up in the study. Fran got up early and she was reading with Priest Brandon. You knew better that she hasn't recovered from the loss of her friends yet, but she seemed to be managing. After one night of thinking you believed that you had no other option.

"Fran, I'm going to meet with Sergeant Ashton. Are you... uh..." You decided to warn the sergeant. You would need the police forces to deal with the vampire situation. But you're not sure if Fran wanted to come with you, or if you wanted her to.

"Okay. I'll go with you." Fran nodded and followed you.

"Alright..."

Dec 27th. It's bright outside but you didn't have the luxury to enjoy the weather.

You and Fran arrived at the police station at around 9:30 a.m.. As you entered the station, you noticed that there were dozens officers on duty today and it made you feel safe. However, before you could do anything, you were immediately stopped by two police officers.

"Mr. Wilson, you're a suspect for Neil Brown's ****. You need to come with us." One of the officers, Peter, handcuffed you without hesitation and led you to the interrogation room. Fran, watched by the other officer, said nothing but just followed behind you.

"I understand. I'll cooperate, but may I speak with Sergeant Ashton?" You pleaded earnestly, "I have some urgent matters to discuss with her."

"Sergeant Ashton will be with you shortly. Please wait." Peter just left you in the room alone and went back to his work.

Melissa Ashton was at her late 20s when she was promoted to Sergeant of the Owl city police department early this year. She was on duty today and things were already looking bad. There was another animal attack and some disturbing evidences have been collected near the victim from the scene. There were several reports of strange noises coming from a bar in the north of the city. And she just had an argument with her father yesterday. All these things were making her a little bit edgy recently.

When she was irritably scratching her short, silver-gray hair and was about to drink a sip of coffee to ease the tension, she heard that an unexpected "guest", James Wilson, just showed up at the front door of O.P.D.. What the hell, she wondered and went to the interrogation room.

Only minutes later Melissa entered the room. Immediately she noticed that there weren't just you and her inside.

"Who are you, miss?" She cautiously looked at Fran.

"Oh, I'm Francesca Evans. I'm James's friend. Nice to meet you." Fran stood up and introduced herself politely.

"His friend? Do you know that your friend here is one of the suspects for a recent ****? Come clean, James." She threw the papers at the desk and stared at you, "Neil Brown was killed, his wife is missing and we found your cellphone and your wallet at the crime scene. What the fuck has happened!?"

"You're not going to believe me, but, uh..." You paused for a second before you took off the scarf and revealed the wounds on your neck, "All those deaths... It wasn't animals. It was vampires. Neil's wife, Olivia, was turned into one. She killed him and bit me."

"Vampires!? James, are you high on something?" Melissa sneered at you and punched the desk angrily. She turned to Fran and asked, "You're not gonna tell me that you believe him, Miss Evans?"

"I do. He's telling you the truth." Fran firmly looked at you.

"Jesus..." Melissa couldn't believe what she heard.

"Look, I know you probably won't trust me." You didn't have anything solid enough to convince Melissa, but you didn't seemed to care. You sighed and continued, "All I'm asking is that-"

"James!" Melissa yelled at you, "We have your fingerprints on his corpse and on the bed! I can't help you if you don't cooperate! You'd better tell me the truth, right now."

"Please... I'm telling you the truth! Olivia might have turned everyone in Night Crawler's Bar last night, and... and..." You lacked the courage to continue and just sat helpless in the chair.

"Night Crawler's Bar?" Melissa frowned with a serious expression, "That can't be coincidence. Someone has reported that there were some strange noises coming from that bar. I should go check it myself."

"Damn it, Melissa. Have you heard what I sad?" You tried to stop her from going there, however, a phone call interrupted you. It's Melissa's, coming from her mother.

"Hi, Mom." She picked it up.

"Mel... I don't feel very well..." Her mother's voice was faint. Melissa could hear her breathing weakly.

"Mom? What's going on? Mom?" Melissa asked anxiously but the phone was already hung up, "Damn it. Jack! Peter!"

Hearing her yelling in an anxious tone, you suddenly remembered something. A frightful thought came to your mind and you couldn't help but shiver.

"Yes, Ma'am?" A rookie police officers under her command came in her officer. And the one that brought you here came after him.

"Something happened to my mom, I need to go check on her." Melissa grabbed her things and gave the order as she rushed to the door, "Jack, you and Ernest go to the bar that was reported to have strange noises, and see if there's anything. Peter, take Mr. Wilson and Miss. Evans to the detention room. I'll be back soon."

"Roger that." They both answered.

"Wait, Melissa... Your parents..." You got up and stopped the sergeant, "Are they Ian and Sarah Ashton?"

"How do you know?" Melissa was confused. She believed that she has never told you about them, but immediately she remembered that you were an investigator, so she asked you somewhat angrily, "Did you investigate my family?"

"No. I saw your father in my vision." You shook your head with a sad face, "I'm sorry, but I think Olivia has got to them. Your parents were turned into vampires."

"Visions, now? And you're using my parents to try and stop me? That's not funny." Melissa got pissed and she sneered at you, "You keep doing this and I'll have to send to the mental hospital. Both of you."

"Your father said he had an argument with you, but he loves you." You kept talking.

Melissa widened her eyes and she was surprised. She looked at you in disbelief for a few seconds, and went out the room regardless. You didn't know what she was thinking, but you hoped that your words could be of help.

Peter and another big guy brought you and Fran to the detention rooms on the basement level. The two of you were locked in the same room with two beds.

You leaned your back on the bed and rested. You fell asleep easily. When you opened your eyes again you realized that it has been nearly two hours.

"You didn't sleep well last night, did you?" Fran was sitting on the other bed and looking at you. She shook her head with a bitter smile, "Me neither."

"Yeah..." You sat up on the bed, "Hey, Fran..."

You were going to ask her about how she felt, when you heard footsteps in the hallway outside. A few seconds later, a figure appeared at the door. It's Melissa.

"Melissa! You're back! Listen, I-"

You suddenly paused as you noticed that there were saw several small bloodstains on her uniform. You were shocked and immediately wide awake. Before you asked anything, she opened the door and uncuffed you swiftly.

"What-"

"Shut up and follow me. Both of you." Melissa grabbed your hand and dragged you out of the detention room. Fran quietly followed.

"Sergeant, this is against the protocol." Peter, standing in front of the security room by the entrance, tried to stop you.

"Fuck the protocol, Peter." Melissa gently pushed Peter aside, and he didn't resist or insist.

She led you to the underground garage. Luckily, most of the officers were either having lunch at the canteen or patrolling outside, so you didn't attract any unwanted attention. She's taking a serious risk of getting me out, you couldn't believe what was going on. Something must've happened.

"Damn it, James..." Melissa pushed you in her private car and started the engine, "Fuck..."

You noticed that her hands on the wheel were shaking.

"Sergeant Ashton? Are you alright?" Fran gently asked before you did.

After a 20-minute drive Melissa came to her parents' house. It's actually not very far away from the Night Crawler's Bar. She tried to reach her father on the way here, but he didn't answer the call. It made her extremely nervous. All the curtains behind the windows were down, and it was dead silent. she felt something terribly wrong, but she couldn't tell what it was.

"Mom?" She unlocked the door and went inside. No one answered.

She turned on the flashlight and got in the living room. The air in the house was strange. It smelled stale, metallic, and a little bit sweet. As she went deeper she almost vomited. Was that... blood? The word "vampire" came across her mind. What if what James said was true? What should I do? She kept asking herself.

Seconds later Melissa went to draw back all the curtains, so that at least there was sunlight in the living room. When she believed that the first floor was secured, she went to the second floor.

Once she opened the bedroom door she was shocked. She found her mother, Sarah, lying on the floor next to the bed, naked. There were several puncture wounds in pairs dotting over her body - her neck, her breasts, and even above her intimacy, where a rivulet of cum was dripping down, and they were still bleeding. Sarah seemed to be ****, and she breathed feebly.

"Oh, my God! Mom! What happened!?" Melissa rushed to her mother's side and checked on her, but not forgetting to draw back the curtain right next to them, "You are having a fever! Hang in there, I'll call an ambulance!"

"There's no need of that." A male voice came behind her. A familiar yet twisted voice.

She turned around and aimed at whoever was there with her pistol. The man standing by the bedroom door was her father, Ian, a man nearly 60 years old and also naked. However he had a unusually fit body and appropriate muscles now, and he was smiling wickedly. In the bright light Melissa could see his red eyes and the blood coming down from both sides of the corner of his mouth.

"Dad? You are a..." Melissa gritted her teeth when she saw her father's horrific face.

"You can join us, too, Mel. Just come to daddy." Ian opened his arms, but he couldn't enter the room as the path was blocked by sunlight.

"No! Jesus... I'm taking mom out of here!" Melissa aimed at her father and was ready to shoot. She didn't know if she could do it, but she had to clear a path for her mother and her to escape.

"Join us, Mel..." Another voice came behind her.

"Mom?" Melissa was terrified as her mother, staying in an blind spot, just got up from the floor behind her and opened those captivating red eyes.

Sarah smiled wickedly, revealed her newly-grown fangs and tried to grabbed her daughter's shoulders. In panic, Melissa fired at her mother's leg. Blood splashed on her uniform, but Sarah barely staggered. The bullet wound on her leg healed up in mere seconds, and she continued to attack.

Melissa's mind was completely blank, but by instinct she retreated back to the window, where she was protected by the sunlight. Sarah tried to grab Melissa, but she couldn't reach her daughter before her hand was burnt. So they just kept their distances and smiled at her.

"Don't resist, Mel." Ian softly said.

"We can still be a family!" Sarah dipped the remaining blood on her body with her finger and licked it with an intoxicating look on her face.

With her crumbling mind, Melissa swiftly climbed through the window and fell down to the front yard. It wasn't before she drove a few miles away that she finally pulled herself together and cried aloud in the car.

Melissa remained silent.

"It's not your fault..." Fran patted her shoulder.

You tried to comfort her, but you didn't know how. Not only the Night Crawler's Bar has become a vampires' nest, but Melissa's parents have been turned into vampires, too. It's just a nightmare. Those monsters were only trapped there by the sunlight. Once the sun set and they were unleashed, the city would be doomed. You have less than 6 hours to come up with a plan and save the city from a pack of bloodthirsty vampires.

"Melissa, we need to-"

"Wait." Melissa stared at a police car on the other end of the garage, "That's the one Jack and Ernest took when they went to the bar."

You felt like you have skipped a heartbeat. Melissa got off and cautiously walked towards the police car, and you and Fran carefully followed behind her. When you reached the police car, you gasped in horror.

Jack was sitting in the driver seat, and he's dead. There were several pairs of bite marks on his neck, and blood was everywhere in the car and still fresh.

"How... How is this possible?" Fran covered her mouth and stumbled backwards.

You didn't know how this happened. You looked at Melissa and noticed that she was looking at you in despair, too.

A vampire has infiltrated into the O.P.D.. The station would be corrupted in less than an hour, if you didn't take any measure.
