Soul mates

Once out the tub we get dried and ready for bed, I settle into the comfy bed it was miles better than both the too small bed I had been staying in while I recovered and the lumpy mattress of the green elf. Quinara settles in next to me "Gods that feels good" she says as she relaxes "you read my mind" I joke snuggling up to her, with her strong arms she pulls me close letting me rest my head on her chest. Quinara settles in likely enjoying the luxury given that she had been sleeping on a floor for over a week at this point, I decide to bring that up "you know you didn't have to stay" I admit to her, "I appreciate that you did but you could have just visited, and slept in a comfy bed".

I feel Quinara tense up slightly, "I couldn't... I couldn't leave you" she says her voice uncertain, I look up and see her eyes shiny with tears, "hey what's up?" I ask wondering what had upset her, "when I saw you in the bathhouse bleeding out. I was so scared, more scared than I had ever been before. I just... I can't lose you" she says tears dripping down her face. I reach out and place a hand on her cheek wiping away a tear with my thumb "hey you're not gonna lose me" I say reassuring her. "I almost did! You could have died runt" she says her tears flowing freely, she brings one of her hands up to her cheek and holds my hand as if she would let go I would cease to exist.

I had never seen Quinara so **** before, "hey I'm here, I am not dead yet" I joke trying to ease the mood, Quinara wipes away some of her tears and presses a kiss to my hand. "I-I've never felt this way about anyone before" she admits "I couldn't live with myself if something happened to you" I hear her heart pounding through her chest as she reveals this. Quinara takes a steadying breath "I love you Huck." Now my heart was pounding, she had told me she liked me, she had shown her affection but this was the first time she admitted that this was love. I look up at her with awe "I love you too, more than anything" I say reciprocating her feelings, I feel that Quinara knew that already but she still smiled down at me. "It's funny I wasn't scared of anything but dying and I was miserable, now I'm more scared than ever and despite it all I am more happy" she admits to me, I let out a laugh "I think I know how you feel... Well except for being more scared" I nuzzle into her chest more "you make me feel safe".

We lie together my head atop her chest as she calms down and wipes away her tears, "feel better?" I inquire wondering if her admitting her feelings helped, "kind of. I am still scared to lose you... I meant it when I said I've never felt like this before" she answers. The feeling that I was her true love filled me with joy "same, I can't believe when we first met I was scared of you" I say holding her close. "Gods when we first met you were scared of your own shadow runt" She jokes and I laugh along "I really was... Hey what did you think of me when we met?" I ask her, Quinara ponders for a second "hmm, I thought you were a mess. Fragile not long for this world" She begins "ouch" I say feigning to be hurt "if it makes you feel any better I thought you were cute from the jump, but yeah you were just some inept weakling on first impression. But you've proved me wrong" she says, I calmly reply "yeah I think we both misjudged each other. I thought you were a scary dumb brute who would tear me in half, I didn't for a second think you would be the love of my life, kind, caring and far smarter than me" I say lavishing her with praise. "Love of my life" she repeats softly and slowly, "I like that, I feel the same way" her pretty face winces as though physically struck as a painful thought enters her head. "I wish we were bound..." She says referring to her marriage, "spending eternity with you in the afterlife would be... Incredible, instead I am bound to that monster" she says avoiding saying Zihan by name. I look up at her "I'm so sorry" I say soothingly "it's not your fault... It's mine I should have left the clan as soon as the marriage was planned" she whimpers. "It's not, you couldn't have known what he would do to you" I say holding her tightly being there for her.
